- Coordinate accounting functions and programs
- Prepare financial analyses and reports
- Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including but not limited to: Cash, A/P, Accruals, and Intercompany.
- Assist with annual audit preparations
- Manage cash flow and identify opportunities to improve working capital
- Maintain internal controls and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce risk
- Contribute to the development of accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
- Payroll:
- Oversee the impact of payroll on the general ledger
- Ensuring accurate posting of payroll-related expenses, including WIP labor cost, wage liability, taxes, and benefits
- Reconcile the company's ERP system to the payroll system to ensure that payroll entries are properly recorded and matched
- Fixed Assets:
- Maintain detailed records of asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers, and ensure timely updates in the ERP system
- Ensure that assets are properly classified, recorded, and depreciated in compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards
- Maintain detailed Inventory documentation for each cycle count, ensuring all variances are appropriately explained and corrected in the ERP system
- Review and enforce adherence to Inventory control policies and procedures, helping to maintain accurate stock and mitigate inventory obsolescence
- Perform other accounting duties and support staff as required or assigned.
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel
- Validate Data, problem solve and/or develop workbooks in excel
- Pivot Tables, Lookup, Data Validation, etc.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls
- Proactive, self-motivated individual who can handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- MBA is a plus
- CPA license is preferred
- Minimum 5 + years of accounting experience
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
SUMMARY:
Westland Technologies Inc (Westland) is seeking a Senior Accountant to support our fast-growing company. Westland is a recognized leader in designing and manufacturing cost-effective composite solutions for military and industrial applications. This position reports to the Controller. The Senior Accountant will have a significant impact on the company's success by maintaining a high level of financial control and analysis to support Westland's business needs. This person must be an analytical thinker and problem solver, have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work in a face-paced environment where priorities often shift.
