Prepare journal entries for revenue, payroll, and accrued liabilities
Reconcile sub-ledgers with general ledger balances
Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations
Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules
Prepare monthly financial statements and assist with month-end and fiscal year-end closings
Enforce internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
Assist in annual budget preparation and internal reporting
Support external audit processes with schedules, documentation, and reports
Collaborate with the CFO to ensure accurate financial reviews and submissions
Provide technical support for federal, state, and private grants
Develop program budgets in partnership with project teams
Reconcile and document financials for grant-specific audits
Ensure cross-departmental alignment on grant activities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
5–7 years of relevant accounting experience (non-profit experience preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Experience with integrated financial systems; Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus
Familiarity with GAAP, FAR, and CFR standards
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
Excellent communication and organizational skills

The Senior Accountant is a vital member of the finance team, responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and supporting compliance with GAAP standards. You’ll oversee monthly closings, annual audits, internal controls, and collaborate on grant budgeting and reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow under the guidance of a highly experienced CFO and gain hands-on experience with complex accounting systems and special projects.
