GL Accountant (Senior Accountant)
Be the Owner of Your Role. Shape the Future of Financial Excellence.
At Pennant Services, we’re seeking bold, empowered accounting professionals who are ready to make a profound impact, not just through accurate financial reporting, but by helping shape the future of operational success across our agencies. If you’re an experienced accountant with a strong grasp of GAAP, attention to detail, and a sense of ownership over your work, this is your next big move.
As a GL Accountant, you will take full ownership of the month-end close process for a portfolio of 10–12 agency locations. You’ll collaborate with field and corporate leaders, prepare and analyze financial statements, and ensure accurate, timely reporting. This role plays a crucial part in supporting our mission through financial transparency, compliance, and effective partnerships.
This is not just a technical role. This is a position for someone who takes initiative, thrives on precision, and sees themselves as an owner, not just an employee.
What You’ll Own
Month-End Close Execution
Own and lead the general ledger month-end close process across multiple locations, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.
Financial Review & Analysis
Generate and review operating statements, analyze key accounts, investigate variances, and compare results to historical trends.
Journal Entry Preparation
Create and post general ledger entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financials.
Vendor Invoice Review
Review vendor invoices for correct coding, compliance, and accrual treatment when appropriate.
Compliance & Controls
Ensure all close and reporting activities align with GAAP. Maintain and monitor SOX controls across responsible centers.
Balance Sheet Reconciliation
Prepare monthly reconciliations for key asset and liability accounts, compiling detailed documentation to support account balances.
Audit Support
Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing required documentation and resolving inquiries efficiently.
What You Bring
Please note that this job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed. It is not designed to be a comprehensive inventory of all duties and responsibilities required of employees in this role. Responsibilities may evolve with business needs.

About the company
Our home health and hospice agencies and senior living communities operate relatively independently and have no traditional corporate headquarters.
