Job Description

- Perform grant-related pre- and post-award functions, including preparation of grant/award budgets, budget and expense analysis, invoicing/billing, financial reporting to donors, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, re-budgeting/award revision requests, and grant closeout functions required.
- Ensure FSRI adheres to all funding requirements (federal, state, local, and other donors).
- Prepare an accurate and timely internal tracking report of revenue and expenses for awards, and work with program staff to monitor budgets and ensure funds are used in a timely and proper manner.
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies and accounts receivable issues.
- Review invoices and provide account codes, when appropriate, for proper accounting.
- Execute accounting operations functions, such as assisting with the monthly close process and performing journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and analysis.
- Support the annual audit, other audits, and regulatory filings.
- Support the fiscal year budget preparation and implementation.
- Participate and/or lead ad hoc special projects/assignments.
- Provide coverage for other Finance staff during their absences. Coordinate vacation and other leave to ensure continuous staffing by Accountants/Senior Accountants within the Finance team.
- Knowledge of automated accounting systems, preferably Great Plains.
- Experience in financial analysis, financial management and not-for-profit accounting.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook-advanced MS Excel user strongly preferred and software related to electronic billing, budgeting, and management information systems is a plus.
- Ability to manage pre- and post-award financial functions for complex grants from multiple sources (federal, state, local and others).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a sense of urgency when appropriate.
- Independent judgment and the ability to work with little supervision are necessary.
- Ability to adapt GAAP and FASB to FSRI financial information.
- Ability to communicate (both in writing and orally) in a clear, diplomatic, friendly, effective manner.
- Keen attention to detail and strong degree of accuracy.
- Flexible mindset, with the ability to pivot as priorities change.
- Tremendous integrity and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual skills are compensated!!
- Travel to and from office sites, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
- Ability to communicate effectively.

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing all finance-related pre- and post-award functions for assigned portfolio, performing accounting operations functions, and supporting the annual audit and budget processes. FSRI is a collaborative working environment where the Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to work with program leads, playing a critical part in achieving and maintaining their funding goals.
