      Job Description

      Overview:

      Reporting to the Accounting Manager, located at our head office in Calgary, the Senior Accountant takes the lead in monitoring, interpreting and communicating operating & financial results for the Alberta Communities divisions (Calgary and Edmonton). Additionally, the Senior Accountant critically evaluates the on-going performance, efficiency, reporting, and internal controls for operations. This includes preparing reporting and analysis for divisional reporting, preparing reporting to Corporate/centre-led team, as well as ad hoc analysis as required.


      Key Deliverables:

      • Assist in ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting information

      • Review and/or prepare of the quarter-end Management Meeting Package, quarterly and year-end supplemental information

      • Ensure that all transactions are prepared and recorded accurately and in a timely manner and in accordance with the accounting policies and procedures

      • Review of day to day accounting entries as required including quarterly bank & loan reconciliations

      • Review operational job costs and CTCs

      • Attend various department and interdepartmental meetings to obtain information for analysis and reporting

      • Assist/support operations and executive team in day to day and ad-hoc information requests

      • Prepare financial information for Project Approvals / assist in DCF preparation

      • Oversee the forecasts for Sales, Operational Cash Spend, and marketing spend (for Sales, Operations and Marketing groups)

      • Maintain the sales and inventory warehouse, gathering info from the Sales team and LMS

      • Assist with the ongoing monitoring of compliance with internal controls over financial reporting

      • Assist with Annual Audit/SOX requests & walkthroughs

      • Oversee Limited Partnership audits / reviews

      • Review quarterly banking submissions, ensuring compliance with credit agreements

      • Review quarterly bond and LC reporting and forecasting

      What You Bring:

      • CPA or equivalent designation and 3+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major or medium-sized company.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks/issues and recommend solutions

      • Strong working knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

      • Practical experience and understanding of financial reporting requirements.

      • Real estate experience is considered an asset
