      The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Senior Accountant located in our Rosemont, IL. office responsible for assisting Manager with external reporting needs and quarterly financial forecasting, preparing annual budget(s), monthly accounting responsibilities on endowments, restricted funds, financial forecasting, grant financial management, and other various financial reporting activities and reconciliations for the Academy and AADA.

      Responsibilities:

      • Assist assigned departments in the preparation of annual departmental budgets and quarterly financial forecasts. Investigate, identify and make adjustments, as required.
      • Responsible for all financial aspects of recording Corporate Grants/Sponsorships/ Individual Giving by working with Development and Revenue and program managers with any grants that need a budget, comparing budgets to contracts, releasing of dollars to cover expenses for grants (including payroll costs) and monitoring remaining unspent dollars, and providing reconciliations of dollars spent on grants that require reconciliations
      • Manage quarterly meetings with all staff that have corporate dollars to confirm the status of all grants.
      • Assist Manager with the monthly external financial statement for all financial entities, including the Academy’s board designated, restricted, and endowment funds. Assist in preparing material for committee activities.
      • Analyze and reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts and prepare journal entries. Prepare work papers for the annual audit of Academy and AADA.
      • Oversee banking transactions for AAD/A to include wire transfer requests.
      • Run Aptify to Raiser’s Edge integration process.

      Requirements:

      • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) required. Advance skills in Excel preferred.
      • Effective verbal and written interpersonal communication, analytical and organizational skills required.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • Attention-to-detail skills are essential.
      • Establish and maintain effective work relationships, works cooperatively in group situations. Offer assistance and support to coworkers.
      • Able to work effectively with varied people to facilitate the completion of the work by established deadlines.
      • Ability to organize, evaluate and provide alternative financial solutions during budgeting, forecasting, and monthly and Annual closing of the books processes.
      • Demonstrate awareness of business functions within the finance departmental liaison responsibility and provide financial guidance to these departments as needed.
      • Ability to execute projects with minimal supervision.
      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
      • Minimum four years of related experience preferred.
      • Knowledge of computer based financial systems, including general ledger and budgeting preferred.
      • Grant experience required.
