- Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and consolidating journal entry transactions
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts and subledger balancing by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
- Supports internal control improvements and ensures compliance with SOX and other Company policies
- Test and participate in the implementation of new accounting systems, programs, and procedures
- Lead ad hoc accounting support for our One VIP department
- Performs other accounting duties and support other staff as required or assigned
- To attend all relevant skill building workshops as requested
- To stay current with all relevant industry information as it applies to the overall job responsibility
- To drive your own Performance Appraisal every twelve months
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively and persuasively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages

- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting with 3-5 years relevant work experience.
- Financial statement close and consolidation as well as experience with Infor, Hyperion, ADP, and Crystal a plus.

OVERVIEW:
Urban One, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to work in its Corporate Finance Department. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this is a high-volume position that addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of transactional accounting duties with a significant emphasis on bank reconciliations, journal entry preparation, account analysis, and support of quarterly and year-end audit requirements. The Senior Accountant will have contact with senior-level personnel which requires strong, effective interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
