- Develop, implement and monitor/measure integrated communications plans and content development strategies that support and align with the overall Ontario Health mandate, Annual Business Plan and our organization’s Communications and people and culture strategies.
- Provide strategic communications advice on all aspects of communicating to team members, leaders, and potential external candidates about Ontario Health’s HR programs and platforms, including employee engagement, wellness, recruiting, compensation, performance management, policies, organization changes and other large impact projects.
- Create high-quality communication strategies and support implementation, to help ensure key deliverables are achieved and measured, including the writing and editing of communication plans, materials, presentation content and intranet copy – ensuring a brand appropriate and consistent tone and voice.
- Build supportive relationships with HR leaders including a strong partnership with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Support the organization and its team members through the impacts of HR programs and other organizational change to ensure that communication strategies are robust and meet the needs of all stakeholders.
- Share communications best practices and handle tactical assignments with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced but complex environment.
- Work with internal business partners to determine enterprise priorities, manage communication-specific workflows and deliver multiple communications initiatives effectively and on time.
- Provide cross-functional leadership and act as a subject matter expert in communications , based on best practice learnings. Provide expertise and advice across the organization to ensure products, information, guidance, and resources are widely available, known and leveraged.
- Develop a strong understanding of the HR strategies including employee engagement the principles of change management to inform communications strategies and implementation to support effectively communicating change with team members.
- Contribute as an active member on cross-organizational programs and initiatives including the Ontario Health Recognition and Employee Engagement Programs.
- Accountability for scheduling and execution of communications to team members across the organization to deploy information around HR-related initiatives and programs.
- Work alongside other communication team members to support goals and objectives related to projects and initiatives.
- Push the boundaries of what has been done before using the latest tools, techniques and trends within internal communications.
- Research emerging trends/best practices and determines implications of findings on Ontario Health strategies and to inform strategic communications advice.
- Ability to work with little supervision and high degree of autonomy, with ability to interact directly with senior leaders Working within a team, ensure positive working relationships.
- Other duties may be assigned within the scope of this position.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations/marketing or a related field with experience developing communication plans for corporate project and initiatives
- Minimum 7+ years of communications or related work experience
- Experience working in a large-scale organization, public sector experience preferred
- Experience working in project teams to deliver on communications plans and strategies
- Knowledge and experience in change management practices considered an asset
- Experience providing communications support within an HR environment an asset
- Excellent understanding of communication principles and processes
- A strong writer and editor, specifically in preparing engaging content for a variety of internal audiences and communications vehicles
- Communication planning and project management skills with an ability to work well with diverse teams with competing priorities across a complex organization
- High degree of collaboration and the ability to influence to achieve program/project objectives while protecting/enhancing the organizational brand
- Strong storytelling experience and aligning strategies to the overall corporate narrative
- Experience creating communications plans, strategies, key messaging, for programs or services
- Well versed in communications tools
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines, under pressure, as part of a team
- Ability to multi-task and have good organizational and time management skills
- Sound judgement, discretion and decision-making ability
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and experience to work across all levels
- Commitment to customer service
- Experience in developing internal videos (scripts, storyboards, video editing) is an asset
- Bilingualism is an asset

The Senior Advisor, Communications, working within Internal Communications and in partnership with Human Resources (HR), is responsible for providing communications strategy, planning and execution of multi-faceted communications plans and outreach activities to broaden awareness and support for key strategic and organizational priorities and objectives at Ontario Health. Working closely with senior leadership and internal stakeholders, the position also contributes to achieving Ontario Health’s goal of promoting a culture of unity and pride through celebrating our collective impact and inspiring our team members to do their best work.
