- Enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the HRBP team by building their capability, providing labour relations support, and implementing common process/tools;
- Support HRBPs and Operations on the administration and management of CBA, Policies and Procedures and Statutory Legislation;
- Provide advice and counsel on grievance management, being proactive to resolve issues before grievances are filed, whenever possible;
- Partner with HRBPs when required to develop labour relations solutions that support business objectives and are in compliance with legislation and collective agreements;
- Maintain and enhance awareness of labour relations best practices and emerging trends and case law;
- Lead second step grievance meetings with our Union partners;
- Provide support at HAC and Labour Management Meetings;
- Foster positive labour relations through the interpretation of the collective bargaining agreements, policies and procedures, and legislation;
- Support collective bargaining process through researching industry standards, case law, drafting proposals, preparing briefs, etc;
- Support and manage mediation and arbitration cases;
- Build and develop new programs which support the organizational values of courage, excellence and compassion;
- Develop education programs for leaders in matters pertaining to labour relations and employee relations;
- Analyze new legislation affecting THP to understand and provide advice to ensure organizational compliance;
- Support key Labour Relations Strategic Projects.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or similar field, or relevant work experience;
- Minimum of seven (7) years of human resources experience;
- Previous leadership experience is a definite asset;
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in labour relations;
- Certified Human Resources Leader designation (CHRL) preferred;
- Sound working knowledge and experience with human resources practices and principals including Provincial legislation (Human Rights, Employment Standards, AODA, Health and Safety), Collective Agreement administration and the ability to effectively interpret and apply accordingly;
- Strong relationship management skills with experience in partnering, influencing, coaching and building credibility with managers and the human resources team;
- Strong change management skills with demonstrated ability to act as a catalyst for change within a business;
- Strong diagnostic skills and proven ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop recommendations for complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues;
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities;
- Proven track record of delivering results and committed to excellence;
- Strong business acumen and issue resolution skills with the ability to deal with situations in an open, objective and flexible manner;
- Managerial courage with a proven ability to contribute to the hospital’s success by identifying and creating opportunities to improve processes, patient experience, and services;
- Strong written and verbal communications skills to develop and deliver projects, tools and resources;
- Knowledge of current health care issues and trends is an asset.

Overview:
Under the direction of the Employee & Labour Relations Manager, this role supports Trillium Health Partners mission of “new kind of health care for a healthier community” by providing employee and labour relations expertise to foster a healthy and respectful workplace with the Unions. They will partner with the HRBPs to provide advice and guidance on, including but not limited to labour relations, contract interpretations, relevant changes to laws, and case law.

This role is currently being conducted remotely. Travel to all THP sites may be required at different times to support our clinical staff. Flexibility in working hours may also be required occasionally to support hospital initiatives.
We offer employees, in roles that are conducive to remote work, the flexibility and the right mix of remote and in-office work (approximately 80/20). Acknowledging that the primary works space will be remote work from home, but there will be times when onsite presence is appropriate just as there will be times when onsite presence may not be possible.
The expectation is that remote work locations, as part of the Flex First program, will be in the employee’s place of residence, and adhere to all THP policies and procedures, with special consideration towards privacy. Since employees should be available to return to the workplace with 24 hours’ notice, remote work outside of the province or country is not acceptable.
