Completion of a doctorate degree, with experience in Finance, Economics, Law, or a similar field.
CFA Candidate or charterholder a plus.
Must have strong writing and analytical skills, capacity for synthesizing complex information, and establishing links between factors.
Self-starter who can work independently and is results-driven.
Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management.

Job Description Summary:
CFA Institute is looking to appoint one Senior Researcher to develop and conduct research in the area of Net Zero investing. This Senior Researcher will be part of a group of Researcher/Senior researchers (collectively, “Affiliates”) appointed for 10-12 month terms to develop and conduct research in accordance with our thematic research agenda.
Net zero investing is becoming increasingly important as investors and regulators recognize the need to address climate change. As a thought leader for the investment industry, we intend to hire a Senior Affiliate from academia and/or industry at the post-graduate (Ph.D.) level. The term of this position is up to twelve months, and we are looking to hire as soon as possible.

More specifically, we are interested in candidates who understand the complexity of the ecosystem in which practitioners must navigate to get good investment outcomes while addressing growing concerns and controversy over climate-related challenges. This includes understanding the structures and normal business processes within the investment management process that may impede the financial industry’s agility in being proactive or effective in net zero investing. Experience and research topics can cover a broad spectrum, from analyzing the asymmetrical risks of blended financial instruments, constructing proprietary climate change scenario analyses, and identifying, calculating, and interpreting relevant climate-related metrics to evaluate and solutions data sources.
Affiliates will be tasked to develop research under the oversight of the Senior Head, Research and will be supported with mentorship from the Research, Advocacy, and Standards group. CFA Institute will own all intellectual property and publish the research conducted under the Research & Policy Center. For those aspiring to publish in academic journals, the creation of derivative works will be permissible following the publication of the original work by CFA Institute. All projects must be completed through to publication within the term of appointment.
This opportunity is open to candidates in London, Washington, DC, and New York City, with a commitment to be in the applicable office at least two days per week.

CFA Institute salary ranges will vary by geographical location. This role is being posted nationally/internationally and does not have to be performed in New York City. In compliance with the New York City salary disclosure law, the anticipated base salary for this role in New York City is $110,250. Salaries are determined based on the candidate's relevant experience and skills, as well as internal equity.
