      We are looking for a full-time permanent Senior Agricultural Research Technician and in this position, you will support the research activities for sugar beet seed developments. You will assist with the overall management of research greenhouse and field activities. The position is located in Kimberly, ID.

      The Senior Station Technician oversees greenhouse and field trial activities including planning, planting, irrigation, field scouting, pest control applications, ratings, record keeping, and harvest. Work with and mentor full time and temporary staff to ensure accurate records and quality control standards are met. Engage and collaborate in local and global functional and station teams. Continually evaluate and improve existing trial methodologies and protocols.

      Essential job Functions:

      • Supervise, coordinate daily activities and train full-time and temporary workers to accomplish tasks.
      • Responsible for using independent judgment to supervise the creation and execution of work plans.
      • Organize, direct and safely apply pesticides to research trials as needed.
      • Operate the required proprietary software for data collection.
      • Oversee field and greenhouse trial agronomics.
      • Direct and operate planting and harvest equipment in the greenhouse and field.
      • Ensure completion of detailed records for all activities, which may include regulatory records.
      • Responsible for scheduling equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs.
      • Ensure employees abide by the Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines and Procedures and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
      • Travel and/or drive on behalf of the business, meet attendance requirements.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Required qualifications:

      • Associates Degree and/or two or more years of experience in agriculture or research related fields.
      • Demonstrated ability to work with the various groups and prioritize tasks for the best efficiency.
      • Demonstrated ability to supervise and complete projects working directly with project leads or managers.
      • Willingness to learn and implement new technologies within the group.
      • Ability to work variable hours as needed.
      • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving history.
      • Ability to work independently and within a team with flexibility.
      • Have or be able to obtain Pesticide Applicator License within 6 months of hire.
      • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

      Preferred qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, and/or 2 years experience in agriculture, crop production, general farming, landscaping, greenhouse, or related fields.
      • Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor team members.
      • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) experience.
      • Bilingual skills.
      • Experience working with greenhouse and/or field agronomics.
      • Experience operating agricultural field research equipment.

      Working environment:
      Perform outdoor and indoor work in variable conditions including heat, cold, dust wind and rain. Field environments with exposure to pollen and handling chemicals. Occasional overnight travel as needed, some out of state. Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.

      • A salary between 24 - 30 USD per hour. This role is also eligible for a 6% annual bonus. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
