Responsible for the day-to-day operations, service oversight and application health of specific applications in the Upstream portfolio.
Monitor delivery quality of service and critical issues including incidents, operations meetings, vendor management metrics for all IT service management processes.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and assist with implementation of improvements that follow IT standards and processes.
Maintain healthy relationships with key business partners for operational, day to day activities.
Collaborate with Enterprise & Portfolio Architects, Senior Business Analysts, Release Coordinator, and other technical resources on the delivery of application functionality.
Participate in support activities and the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.
Identify and evaluate risks and participate in mitigation and control activities including system upgrades.
Analyze, configure, and implement specialized application software that satisfies application solution design requirements.
Provide oversight to execution of test plans, debugging and application of subsequent fixes.
Carry out testing of disaster recovery aligning to the Business Impact Assessments for applicable applications.
Learn and support business function(s) systems, capabilities and processes.
Oversee sub portfolio support (application health, service provider escalation, problem owner).
Support IT control activities (SOX, Cyber, PCI) and support audits.
Handle system lifecycles (tech currency, license management).
Assist in IT Asset Management activities including application lifecycle planning, optimization, and renewals.
Supervise and assist with delivery of enhancement scope and defect resolution (accountable for: business requirements, product quality assurance, change approval/RFCs).
Participation on change and architecture reviews to safely deliver application changes into the environment.
Accountable for validation of CMDB and support documentation currency and accuracy.
Assist in operational demand intake including analysis, shaping, prioritization and planning.
Collaborate with Portfolio Architecture to create and maintain operational roadmaps for relevant, critical applications.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Completion of post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of 8 years’ of direct experience in application support, development, or configuration and collaborating with external Application Managed Service Providers preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Have direct working experience in Upstream business areas or functions.
Detail-oriented with a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
Knowledgeable of business analysis principles and practices.
Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
Encourages and fosters a culture of innovation, learning and a questioning mindset.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Self-starter with the ability to independently identify and handle tasks while balancing competing priorities.

The Cenovus Upstream Data and Information Technology (D & IT) team is hiring a technical and business-focused Senior Application Advisor. Reporting to the Manager Upstream Applications, this role will be responsible for day-to-day operations, service oversight and application configuration activities in accordance with our standards and best practices of our Upstream D & IT portfolio. The Upstream portfolio includes technology supporting Oilsands, Conventional, Asia Pacific and Atlantic Canada assets. The role will include engagement with Architects and Business Analysts to assist in the solution design efforts including analysis, design and architecture.
The Senior Application Advisor will collaborate with Project teams to ensure deliverables are built in accordance with defined quality standards. This role is involved to perform service transition activities ensuring production transition is successful by documenting application specifications including operational support manuals. In addition, this role participates in application support activities including the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.
This is a full-time employee position located in our corporate office in Calgary, Alberta.
