      Join our Cybersecurity and Digital Risk (CDR) team to help us also lead the airline industry in cyber-safety. United’s CDR team is tasked with keeping our customers’ and employees’ information safe and secure. Our primary mission is to embed cybersecurity into the DNA of United Airlines by reducing business risk through implementation of strong cybersecurity standards.

      Job overview and responsibilities

      The Senior Architect – Cloud Cybersecurity leads efforts to mature third-party security assessments for United Airlines. This is a critical part of a cross-disciplinary Cyber security team responsible for third-party risk management. In this role the Sr Architect will work on the creation and maintenance of the third-party security assessment platform and partner with product, platform, engineering, and operations teams. The role will help to continuously improve the third-party assessment feature functions and associated playbooks, workflows, processes, and procedures.

      • Conduct in-depth security architecture reviews of third-party vendors, cloud services, and external applications
      • Proficient in evaluating security controls like IAM, network segmentation, encryption, workload isolation, and cloud-native security services
      • Develop and promote security and resiliency architecture strategies, frameworks and patterns while partnering closely with other cybersecurity teams and collaborating with partner organization

      • Assists in implementing Security Standards/frameworks
      • Leads continuous improvement efforts, including preparing and analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement
      • Educate and mentor junior team members

      What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

      • Bachelor's degree required
      • 4+ years of experience
      • Proven ability to develop and maintain analytics dashboards to monitor cloud (SaaS/ 3rd party) security metrics and performance indicators.
      • Provide regular reports on security posture and risk assessments to stakeholders.
      • Utilize data analytics to identify trends and insights for proactive security measures.
      • Collaborate with teams to ensure data-driven decision-making in security strategies.
      • Implement reporting tools to streamline communication of security findings and recommendations.
      • Working knowledge of cloud service providers (e.g., AWS as primary, Azure, GCP are plus)
      • Proficiency with scripting and automation tools
      • Working knowledge of concepts such as security protocols, cryptography, identity and access management (IAM), network security, risk, and/or data encryption
      • Ability to work independently and self-motivate
      • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, interpersonal, collaboration, written and verbal communication skills
      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
      • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
      • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

      • AWS Solution Architect Pro., Networking, and Security Specializations
      • CISSP, ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSMP
      • CISM, CRISC, CEH, GIAC Family
      • 8+ years of technical experience, 5 years directly related to cloud
