      Senior Associate, Database Engineer

      We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Associate, Database Engineer to join our Insight Investment team. This role is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu – HYBRID.

      In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

      • Candidates should possess a blend of technical expertise, client & regulatory reporting knowledge, and collaborative skills to excel in this role.
      • Asset Management or similar FS experience.
      • Technical SQL & Data leadership.
      • Extensive & proven technical skills with MS SQL Server (or similar RDBMS), data warehousing and ETL tools and advanced T-SQL skills.
      • Microsoft Azure cloud experience (or similar). Use of cloud data tools – e.g. ADLS, ADF and Data Bricks etc would be beneficial.
      • Jira & Confluence (or similar).
      • PowerShell / Bat files / VBA.
      • A good understanding of data modelling, data pipelines and workflow.
      • Knowledge of data quality and governance approaches.
      • Comfortable working with remote stakeholders and colleagues using state of the art collaboration technology.
      • Software development experience in a commercial environment with exposure to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
      • Experience as lead technician within an implementation project team and exposure to different project methodologies.
      • Stand by software engineering principles around quality and doing things the right way.
      • Stakeholder relationship management.
      • Analysis & requirements gathering as required.
      • Experienced of building effective relationships within and across IT teams.
      • Able to work with incomplete information when determining business solutions taking into account relevant dependencies, timing and constraints.
      • Able to produce functional requirements, high level design and detailed design specifications when needed to support project processes and delivery requirements.
      • Experience working in Agile teams performing iterative development.
      • Ability to collaborate with end users, stakeholders, and team members.
      • Demonstrate initiative and independence to solve problems.
      • Have a constant desire to improve knowledge and drive adoption of new tech or approaches within the team.
      • Evidence or demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and tools.
      • Own mistakes and work with your colleagues to redress them, learn from them, and make improvements for the long-term.
      • Be able to communicate abstract or complex ideas or solutions effectively.

      To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

      • Design, implement, and optimize SQL database objects and data models tailored to support client & regulatory reporting requirements. Ensure that database structures are designed to efficiently store and retrieve the data necessary for client & regulatory reporting, including transaction & position reporting, portfolio holdings, performance metrics and account activity.
      • Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract data from various sources such as Northern Trust (3rd party back office provider), various order management systems and market data providers. Transform raw data into standardized formats suitable for client & regulatory reporting, applying data validation and enrichment rules as necessary.
      • Establish and enforce data quality controls to validate the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data used in client & regulatory reports. Conduct regular data reconciliation checks and audits to identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
      • Work closely with other team members including business analysts to successfully implement client & regulatory reporting solutions to budget, scope and timescale.
      • Create high level and detailed functional and technical designs, build, document, test and implement components as required.
      • Develop solutions in accordance with Insight standards and deliver solutions that meet the existing Insight change management processes.
      • Maintain detailed documentation of client & regulatory reporting processes, data lineage, and system configurations in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with FCA/PRA guidelines, ESMA directives, and other relevant regulatory mandates governing data management and reporting practices.
      • Stay abreast of client & regulatory developments and changes impacting the UK & US asset management industry. Assess the impact of regulatory updates on existing reporting processes and systems and collaborate with stakeholders to implement necessary enhancements and adjustments.
