Perform preclinical serological bio-functional assays including, but not limited to, neutralization assays, HAI, Luminex, and ELISAs.
Generate and characterize reagents for preclinical bio-functional studies to support vaccine development.
Assist with preclinical bio-functional assay development and train other analysts on established technologies.
Perform molecular techniques that include (but are not limited to) PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, and sequencing.
Independently perform data analysis and present critical data review of non-clinical data to colleagues and senior management.
Organize assigned work according to established departmental priorities.
Exercise and build team effectiveness skills {e.g., commitment, feedback, consensus management} within the immediate work group.
Perform job responsibilities in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices/ Good Laboratory Practice (cGMP/GLP) and all other regulatory agency requirements.
Update and write documents associated with bio-functional assays and molecular work, including information/data archiving and status reports.
Manage manual and robotic sample preparation, use and maintenance of appropriate equipment, and preparation of relevant reagents.
Interpret, summarize, and present progress on assay development to colleagues and senior management.
Collect and analyze data on a per project basis to support troubleshooting, qualification, and other lab projects with moderate guidance.
Stay current on all departmental and corporate training.
Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of laboratory research experience in a relevant field of science.
Basic laboratory skills in the areas of cell-based assays and molecular biology
Experience with experimental design and the interpretation of results.
The capacity to work effectively in a highly visible research program with time-constrained milestones
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Good computer skills, including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software
Master's Degree.
Pharmaceutical and biotech drug discovery experience
Experience with handling infectious agents such as respiratory viruses
Experience with adherent and non-adherent cell lines
Training in molecular biology including construct design, PCR, primer design, and sequencing
Knowledge of Luminex technology and flow cytometry techniques
Experience with independently developing and troubleshooting bioassays designed to assess antibody functionality

What You Will Achieve
As a Senior Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you’ll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be responsible for supporting the preclinical evaluation and early clinical development of candidate viral vaccines, performing various assays to monitor the immune responses elicited by respiratory virus, herpesvirus, and influenza virus vaccine candidates. In addition, you will maintain cell lines and prepare preclinical and early clinical samples for testing. You will also assist with molecular work to generate DNA constructs for RNA and reverse genetic virus stocks. Your skills and expertise will ensure that all work is done in a compliant manner according to relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines and Good Lab Practices cGLP and/or (Current) Good Manufacturing Practices (part of GxP) cGMP guidelines.
Your significant experience of applying knowledge of scientific principles, concepts, and practices will make you a critical member of the team. You are proactive in contributing to all team discussions and creating an environment of collaboration.
