      The Role:

TIME is seeking a Senior Audience Editor with a strong editorial sensibility and a passion for connecting high-quality journalism with audiences across digital platforms, with an emphasis on social media. This role will collaborate closely with editors and reporters across the newsroom to shape how TIME’s journalism is presented and shared in real time, helping tell the news off-platform. It will also work closely with our Revenue team on production of branded social content.

The ideal candidate brings a newsroom mindset, is deeply familiar with social media platforms and trends, and thrives at the intersection of editorial storytelling and audience strategy. This editor will manage two junior audience team members and play a key role in mentoring and supporting their growth.

      Responsibilities:

      • Support the day-to-day execution of TIME’s social media strategy, ensuring timely, engaging, and journalistically sound content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
      • Work closely with editors, writers, and multimedia teams to identify and amplify TIME’s most important journalism on social platforms.
      • Translate complex and breaking news stories into compelling, platform-appropriate posts that drive engagement and reflect TIME’s editorial voice.
      • Manage and mentor two junior-level audience editors, providing guidance, feedback, and support on both strategic initiatives and daily execution.
      • Monitor platform performance and trends; use analytics tools like CrowdTangle, Chartbeat, and Google Analytics to inform real-time and long-term decisions.
      • Contribute to broader audience strategies including newsletter promotion, push alerts, and platform experimentation.
      • Support newsroom-wide understanding of social best practices through clear communication and collaborative planning.

      Qualifications:

      • 5-7 years of experience in digital journalism, social media, or audience development—preferably in a newsroom or fast-paced editorial environment.
      • Strong understanding of how different social media platforms work and what drives performance on each.
      • Excellent news judgment and ability to move quickly and thoughtfully in breaking news situations.
      • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
      • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, especially when working across departments.
      • Comfortable using data and analytics to inform decisions and explain results.
      • Familiarity with branded social content and the intersection of sales and editorial

      Preferred skills:

      • Familiarity with TIME’s editorial voice and mission
      • Direct experience with Reddit strategy in a newsroom environment
      • Experience with writing or editing newsletters
      • Experience with SEO optimization

      Location:
