      Our ideal candidate

      The ABF is interested in receiving applications from individuals who have a broad and diverse range of backgrounds and skills. Under supervision and support of the Border Force Supervisor (APS 6), you will deliver a range of operational and strategic outcomes. You will lead a team and manage your team's goals and operational targets, while being adaptable within complex, dynamic and sensitive environments.

      Duties and responsibilities

      In these roles you will:

      • Monitor team performance and keep the supervisor informed of potential and actual issues.
      • Identify on-the-job training needs and play a role in building staff capabilities through coaching, guiding and mentoring.
      • Plan and allocate staff, resources and equipment to meet workload and priorities.
      • Supervise staff performance.
      • Make real time decisions, using effective decision-making methods.
      • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders.

      Role Requirements/Qualifications:

      Many positions within the Australian Border Force require the occupant to meet Border Force Officer essential qualifications. If successful for one of these positions, candidates are required to:

      • Attain and maintain relevant medical, fitness and psychometric standards.
      • Swear an oath or make an affirmation.
      • Actively participate in career management (postings and deployments either intra or interstate).
      • Be uniformed if the position requires.

      You may also be required to:

      • Acquire a Working with Children Check, and/or
      • Be able to complete Operational Safety training, and be willing to carry and use personal defence equipment, including firearm.

      Eligibility

      To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

      The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
