Job Description
- Req#: 4160
- Provide design support and development of business intelligence solutions, including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery.
- Work with stakeholders to discover, analyze and evaluate business intelligence needs in order to design appropriate solutions.
- Work with the data architect to ensure that the data needed for the solution is integrated into the data warehouse.
- Develop work plans and estimates relating to the delivery of business intelligence solutions.
- Identify and provide input into new technology opportunities that will have an impact on college BI services.
- Design and develop reporting components including queries, views, OLAP cubes, reports and dashboards.
- Lead testing of business intelligence output.
- Take action to improve data timeliness, accuracy, and clarity.
- Apply secure development improvement practices, ensuring that business intelligence services and related information are confidential, reliable, and available.
- Provide specialist guidance to support data testing and quality assurance, contributing to continuous improvement of data quality.
- Explore college data to discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends.
- Schedule and monitor implementation of new services and changes to existing business intelligence services, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
- Ensure that personnel are in place to transition services, service components, and packages in compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Creates and maintains operational documentation for the solutions created.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 5+ years progressively responsible experience with business intelligence and data warehouse technologies.
- 2+ years of experience with the design, development and maintenance of enterprise level data visualization solutions.
- 2+ years of experience with the MS BI Stack, SQL, SSAS modeling, Power Query, DAX.
- Ability to present data in queries, dashboards and reports in a way that is easy to understand.
- Ability to articulate and translate technical language for non-technical customers both orally and in writing.
- Ability to solve complex problems and to work independently through ambiguity.
- Ability to confirm/understand business needs and translate those needs into operational support and reporting tasks.
- Analysis and data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage and influence others.
- Problem solving and creativity.
- Preference to candidates with experience in educational settings.

SENIOR BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST
BUSINESS PLANNING & ANALYTICS
NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone to find ways forward, starting small and thinking BIG in the design, development, implementation and support of the College’s business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, the Senior Analyst collaborates closely with college stakeholders to design and implement solutions for the presentation of data for analysis for various areas across the college. The Senior Analyst works with data cleansing, transformation, modelling and the development of visualizations to ensure the information shared is accurate, consumable, and helps tell a story of where we’ve been and where we’re headed.

SALARY: $75,982 - $94,949 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
