      Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

      $42.504 - $54.844 - $67.184


      The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



      What You Will Do
      Under the direction of the Lead Business Data Analyst, provides Sharp Health Plan with data, reporting and analyses that enable data driven Plan decision-making. Maintains the integrity and automation of Legacy Access databases, extensive spreadsheets, links data from different Legacy Access databases to include functionality of formulas, queries, importing and exporting of data to other programs.

      Required Qualifications
      • Bachelor's Degree Health, business or computers (equivalent work experience may substitute for degree)
      • 7 Years Experience in a Business/Data Analyst role.

      Preferred Qualifications
      • Master's Degree Health, business or computers (equivalent work experience may substitute for degree)

      Essential Functions
      • Communication
        Interacts with team members, and other departments within Sharp Health Plan for the achievement of department goals and business needs.
        Identifies clients and stakeholders for project definition and issue resolution.
        Develops relationships with end users to understand business operations and entity goals.
        Provides updates to management on overall department goals and major initiatives.
      • Documentation and change management
        Updates documentation in Azure such that features and functionality are well documented and communicated.
        Keeps documentation up to date to allow for the continuation of functions by other staff members when the primary resource is unavailable.
        Utilizes Team Foundation Server for source control and change management for SSRS reports and stored procedures.
        Follows best practices for change management processes and communication are utilized by team members so that the highest levels of system stability and reliability are maintained.
      • Leadership
        Provides guidance and direction to new and/or junior staff when applicable.
        Trains new and existing business/data analysts where applicable in system and operational tasks in order to maximize effectiveness and utilization of systems.
        Proposes and implements creative solutions to operational and application issues with follow-through to resolution.
        Independent worker, exercises discretion and makes decisions based on distinct issues.
      • Participates in other duties as assigned
        Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned. These may include, but are not limited to: work groups, proposals, audits and back-up support for other departments.
      • Problem analysis and resolution
        Analyzes complex issues and/or requests to provide effective and creative resolution. Utilizes various department tools and resources to develop quality reports and resolve problems.
        Analyzes user needs/requirements through a variety of appropriate methods such as meetings, observing department operations, reviewing previous reports.
        Applies creative efforts to resolve problem using best judgment and discretion.
        Engages with Business Intelligence developers, other Data Analytics team members, or other departments within Sharp Health Plan to correct data integrity issues.
        Provides the highest-level of troubleshooting ensuring all deliverables meet or exceed acceptable thresholds.
        Provides and prepares analysis of reports to identify key trends.
        Provides and prepares analysis of internal monthly reports to identify key trends, ensure data integrity, and assess Plan reporting capabilities. Consults with the CFO and CEO and/or Plan management staff with regards to key business trends, benchmarking data, utilization statistics, etc.
      • Project management
        Demonstrates consistent and effective application of Project Management techniques.
        Communicates in a timely fashion both to the requestor and management when project schedules may not be meet.
        Provides executable alternative solutions to work around resource constraints.
        Determines and plans for appropriate project task support and task communication.
        Performs comprehensive risk identification.
        Ensures adequate communication of project related issues.
        Establishes and completes project documentation requirements in a timely manner.
      • Provides internal and external customer service
        Provides prompt, accurate and excellent services to internal and external customers.
        Develops solid professional working relationships with various internal departments and units and, as required, vendors, providers, employers, brokers and/or other customers.
      • Report preparation
        Prepares ad hoc reports, assists with new reports and reporting capabilities, special projects, and additional assignments to meet the reporting needs of the department or the Plan.
        Develops reports, design, build spreadsheets.
        Extracts and compiles data information from a variety of internal and external sources.
      • Database maintenance
        Maintains legacy Microsoft Access databases.
        Prepares complex monthly reports for a variety of departments, extracts appropriate data fields and elements needed to produce these reports, reviews for accuracy, submits all reports in a timely manner.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
      • Must have advanced skills in Excel, experience with merging large datasets and analyzing data, working knowledge of SQL, and with reporting tools such as SSRS and/or Tableau.
      • Working knowledge of procedure, diagnostic, and revenue coding (e.g., CPT-4, HCPCS, CRVS, RBRVS, RVS, ICD-10, etc.) and medical terminology.
