      Job Overview

      Performs planning and group supervisory duties involving wellness and recreational program activities designed for older adults, some of whom may have physical disabilities.

      Salary

      Min $36,732.80 annually

      Mid $51,459.20 annually

      Duties and Responsibilities

      Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.

      • Assists in developing wellness and recreational programs for older adults.
      • Conducts and supervises indoor and outdoor wellness programs.
      • Coordinates and conducts cultural and current event discussions.
      • Coordinates with community organizations to facilitate specialized exercise classes as needed.
      • Obtains, accounts for, and dispenses wellness supplies and materials.
      • Escorts older adults to recreational and wellness seminars.
      • Renders administrative task support assistance at program centers.
      • Performs other related duties as required.

      Job Specifications

      • Knowledge of wellness programs and recreational for older adults.
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
      • Ability to assess wellness and recreational programs needs and facilitate programs.
      • Ability to accurately record center members’ attendance, participation in programs, and other related data in computer database.

      Physical Requirements

      • Standing, walking, and assisting older adults as needed.
      • While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

      Work Category

      • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

      Minimum Qualifications Required

      • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; AND
      • 2 years of experience in recreational, social, health, or aging services programs; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
      • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
      • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

      Emergency Management Responsibilities

      In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.

      1. Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to:
      • Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
      • Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes)
      • Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS)
      • Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)
      1. Possess the necessary job-related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL)
