Investigates discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct allegations that fall under Title IX/Title VI/Title VII/ADA/ADEA/and other AA/EEO discrimination and harassment complaints that involve faculty, staff, and students. Investigations include but are not limited to analyzing complaints; identifying allegations and relevant witnesses; interviewing parties and witnesses; gathering documentation and evidence; drafting detailed investigative reports that summarize, analyze, and apply evidence to relevant regulations and policies; and explaining and participating in University grievance proceedings.
Provides advice and guidance to students, faculty, and staff on issues of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct.
Maintains collaborative relationships with academic and administrative units, human resources personnel, legal counsel, university police, dean of students’ office, victim services, and external entities to ensure effective and timely efforts to address issues of civil rights compliance.
Respond to and provide guidance regarding requests for accommodations based on qualified disability for employees, job applicants, and guests.
Facilitates trainings about topics specific to discrimination and harassment.
Responds to external agencies, including assistance with drafting position statements on behalf of the University.
Ensures investigative files are well-documented throughout the investigative process. Maintains accurate and thorough records and notes documenting events within the investigatory process.
Assists in the development and implementation of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment training programs for faculty, staff, and students.
Provides periodic and timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress to leadership and other parties.
Assists with the development and implementation of a case management database to organize, manage, and track reported concerns.

Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Senior Civil Rights Investigator and Trainer - Boca Raton, FL.
The Senior Civil Rights Investigator and Trainer is responsible for the university’s compliance with civil rights laws and regulations. The Senior Civil Rights Investigator and Trainer serves as part of a team that investigates reports and complaints of civil rights discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment and sexual misconduct, pursuant to Florida Atlantic University Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment regulation and policy. The position supports the university compliance in ensuring faculty, staff, and students understand their rights and where applicable, their responsibilities under civil rights laws, regulations, and policies. The position will be responsible for interpreting equal opportunity/affirmative action administrative laws and rules, civil rights laws and policies and training the university community regarding anti-discrimination and anti-harassment. Assists and collaborates with university administrators and interinstitutional groups in resolving specific discrimination and harassment problems and in disseminating information in regard to SUS/university rules, and policies. Designs, develops, and conducts special studies and trainings in the areas of equal opportunity/affirmative action. Collects and analyzes data as appropriate. May serve as liaison between the university and other organizations and governmental agencies involved in equal opportunity/affirmative action programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or,
A Juris Doctor, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Education degree and two years of related experience; or,
A combination of education and related experience in investigation and resolution of Title IX/Title VI/Title VII/ADA/ADEA/and other AA/EEO discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints required (including interviewing parties and witnesses, reviewing evidence, and writing reports or summaries of findings).
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
In-depth knowledge of federal laws such as the Civil Rights Act, Violence Against Women Act, Title IX, Americans with Disability Act, Clery Act, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
Experience working in higher education environment, collaborating with various campus partners such as Student Affairs, Athletics, Provost Office, General Counsel, Victim Services, Human Resources, and University Police Department.
Case management experience involving conducting administrative-workplace investigations and drafting investigation reports.
Ability to work in fast paced environment.
Excellent work ethic and high level of productivity.
Ability to independently manage a large case or workload and meet established timelines.
Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at one time.
Exceptional writing skills, including strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and ability to analyze, summarize, and present determination findings.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information; excellent communication skills.
Experience working with individuals from different backgrounds.Salary:
