Job summary
Applications are invited for this post, to be for a period of 12 months in the first instance and extendable to another 12 months based on adequate progress.
The successful candidate should be able to perform abdominal multi-organ retrieval with minimal or no supervision. Candidates must demonstrate that they can work within a multidisciplinary team; evidence of an active research and an educational interest will be beneficial. There will be an option to develop specialist practice in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation.
Main duties of the job
In addition to leading the multi-organ retrieval team, the successful candidate will have regular HPB/ Transplant out-patient clinics, elective HPB operative theatre sessions, independent day surgery laparoscopic cholecystectomy lists, transplant assessment clinics and out-of-hours liver transplant surgical commitments.
The successful candidate will be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and will be encouraged to participate in clinical research. He/she is also expected to participate in the Liver Unit's continuing medical education programme and multidisciplinary team meetings.

The successful candidate will form part of a team of four consultants and five senior clinical fellows, providing an abdominal multi-organ service led by experienced surgeons trained in liver, kidney, pancreas and intestinal retrieval as part of the National multi-organ retrieval service.
