- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- FRCA/MRCEM/FRCEM intermediate or alternative relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. Master's degree).
- Evidence of life support courses e.g. ATLS, ALS, APLS/EPLS
- Relevant PHEM related post-graduate qualifications : DipIMC / FIMC or DiMM
- Other courses relevant to Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) (eg) ATACC / PHTLS
- At least 5 years clinical experience post qualification including 6 months Emergency Medicine as a middle grade in the UK, or completion of ACCS:EM CT1-3
- Current experience in Anaesthesia / Critical care medicine
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
- Demonstrates an understanding of research methodology
- Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, and involvement in a formal research project
- Evidence of relevant academic publications.
- Demonstrates an interest in and commitment to the specialty beyond the mandatory curriculum
- Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors
- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)
- The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC' good medical practice (2013).
- Evidence of a portfolio of audit/quality improvement projects, including where the audit loop has been closed and there is evidence of learning of the principles of change management.

Job summary
The appointment is to commence from August 2024 for a fixed term period of 1 year. This fellowship is a 50/50 split between Emergency Medicine at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance Service, alternating on a 6 month basis. Primary FRCA or equivalent qualification (such as MRCEM) is required. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to a Registrar (ST4+) level.
Main duties of the job
Air Ambulance Service (HEMS)
You will normally be based at LNAA HQ, Lincoln. You will provide clinical operational shifts (currently Day:0700-1900 (aircraft), Day: 0700-1900 (critical care car), Night:1900-0700 but subject to change). You will also contribute to our service development and will engage in clinical governance activity under the direction of the Clinical Leadership Team.
You will undergo an intensive period of induction, training and supervised shifts comprising a sign off process which is expected to take place over a 6-8 week period. This is regardless of prior experience or seniority.
Emergency Department, NGH
Duties include the reception and initial treatment of a whole variety of emergency conditions including general medicine, trauma, orthopaedics, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ENT. The applicant will also be expected to run areas of the emergency department, and provide advice to junior medical staff with supervision from the Consultants.
