      This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA’s family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

      This role will sit onsite, likely in a hybrid capacity, at the location(s) listed in this posting.

      The anticipated term of this engagement will be 11 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs.

      Develops, implements and assesses specific new and emerging technologies, platforms, and services.

      Key Responsibilities and Duties
      • Assessing the technical viability of emerging products and technologies.
      • Working with developers and infrastructure specialists to test and evaluate new technologies.
      • Participating in the development of business cases and obtaining approvals for capital expenditures.
      • Monitoring and analyzing new technology product performance and resolving issues regarding potential improvements or modifications to complex situations, as needed.

      Senior Cloud Developer

      Position Overview

      We are seeking an experienced AWS Microservices Developer with strong expertise in Scala and Python to design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications using microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of AWS services and experience building scalable, resilient distributed systems.

      Core Responsibilities

      Development & Architecture

      1. Microservices Development

      - Design and implement microservices using Scala and Python

      - Build event-driven architectures using AWS services (EventBridge, SQS, SNS)

      - Develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs using API Gateway

      2. AWS Cloud Architecture

      - Design scalable solutions using AWS container services (ECS/EKS)

      - Implement serverless architectures using AWS Lambda

      - Design data persistence strategies using AWS databases (Aurora, DynamoDB)

      - Optimize application performance and cost efficiency

      Infrastructure & DevOps

      - Implement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation

      - Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines

      - Monitor application performance using CloudWatch and X-Ray

      - Implement auto-scaling and high availability patterns

      Required Qualifications

      Technical Expertise

      1. Programming Languages

      - Advanced Scala programming (5+ years)

      - Strong Python development experience (3+ years)

      - Experience with functional programming patterns

      2. AWS Services Proficiency

      - ECS/EKS for container orchestration

      - Lambda and API Gateway

      - DynamoDB and Aurora

      - CloudWatch, X-Ray for monitoring

      - EventBridge, SQS, SNS for event-driven architecture

      Required Experience

      - 5+ years of experience in software development

      - 3+ years of AWS cloud platform experience

      - 3+ years of microservices architecture experience

      - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
