A Senior Commercial Bid Manager has two primary functions. The first is content creation and quality control on all client-facing materials, specializing in written content in the form of proposals, case studies, presentation decks, website content, and other similar deliverables. The second function is people management, ensuring continuous skills growth, high performance, and quality output of the Commercial Bid Team.

Like the CBM, the Senior CBM also works with Sales and Client Services on growth opportunities to ensure the evolving quality of client-facing outputs delivered by the entire team; a smooth and effective output creation and communication process; and a transparent system of accountability, timelines, best practices, and coordination within and beyond the Sales Development Team (particularly with the functional departments)

      Org Structure

      • This role reports to the Director of Commercial Bid Management.

      • This role directly handles the team’s Commercial Bid Managers.

      • This role’s primary stakeholders are the Sales, Client Services Teams, Service Lines and key Senior Leaders.

      People Management

      • In charge of assessing, onboarding, training, and continuously upskilling of all Commercial Bid Managers (including new hires)

      • Developing the skill sets, key strengths, and tailor-fit growth plans of each Commercial Bid Manager assigned to the Senior CBM through regular individual/group training sessions, 1-on-1 mentoring, subscriptions to specialized classes, and personalized sessions with other critical stakeholders within or beyond the Integrated Marketing Team

      • Assigning cases, special projects, and miscellaneous revenue-generating requests and deliverables based on each Commercial Bid Manager’s availability, strengths, and/or general affinity

      • Partnering with key stakeholders within the Integrated Marketing Team (Accounts, Strategy & Insights, Creatives, and PR) to plan and subsequently implement key content deliverables directly related/relevant to revenue generation

      • Enforcing timelines, work scope, and output expectations from requestors and external stakeholders, accomplished through continuous planning, communication, and possible pushbacks

      End-to-End Project/Deal Management

      • In charge of writing, design overwatch, overall management, and cross-department coordination of key high-value (“must-wins”) client-facing content and deals in the form of proposals, presentation slides, case studies, vertical/service line web pages, and other forms of revenue-generating sales materials.

      • Monitoring and auditing all client-facing output accomplished by the Commercial Bid Managers, ensuring the highest relevancy, quality, and accuracy before submission to the stakeholder/s.

      • Working closely with Sales and Client Services stakeholders (primarily Vice Presidents), with each Bid Manager assigned to a specific Industry or Service Line, ensuring that all output checkpoints, scheduled content drafts, and output deadlines are met.

      • Consistently enhancing and innovating all client-facing materials (proactive or otherwise) and information databases to craft output that’s always a step ahead of the competition.

      • Conceptualizing and implementing innovative content solutions or new ways to present existing content to enhance client-facing materials.

      Leadership

      • Inspiring and empowering the Commercial Bid Managers in continuously improving their output and communication with stakeholders through an innovative, leadership, and growth mindset.

      • Delegating effectively to balance both spikes and dips in workload.

      • Managing and leading the Commercial Bid Managers in all relevant checkpoints and cross-department communication during each project/deal/bid.

      • Pushing back, compromising, and/or outright rejecting project requests that are out-of-scope, unfeasible, and generally improper.

      • Continuously enforcing best practices and quickly addressing potential problem areas within the team, both from a deal and people-interaction perspective.
