Promote the Health Department brand and messages
Collaborate with other Division and Program Communications Strategists to develop and execute social media strategies and ad campaigns
Version and schedule a high volume of social media posts across platforms
Execute social media advertising campaigns and strategize best approaches with stakeholders and colleagues
Moderate and interact with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner
Analyze social data by using analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Social Pilot, and Meta Business Suite to monitor and evaluate the department’s social media presence and ad performance
Suggest recommendations to adjust the social media marketing strategy for optimal results
Stay up to date on best practices and emerging trends in social media
Attend and cover Health Department events; focusing on stories across the Health Department that lift up mission-work, assist with marketing, and create a sense of pride and belonging for employees
Facilitate the development of division and/or department-level communications plans
Support Health Department website writing, editing, and posting
Ensure plans are implemented on time and within budget
Evaluate and select appropriate media and communication approaches for diverse internal and external audiences
Collaborate with division stakeholders to gather, edit, write and coordinate web and social media content, marketing materials or printed publications
Research/gather information and data from subject matter experts to create communications with accurate, effective and timely information for diverse audiences
Identify, write and edit copy for various mediums -- focusing on stories across the Health Department that lift up mission-work, assist with marketing, and create a sense of pride and belonging for employees
Determine design/production methods and vendors best suited for Health Department projects
Provide graphic design support and version social media images
Create inclusive and accessible visual illustrations and designs that accurately and effectively reflect desired communications outcomes
Actively participate in team meetings and projects and share knowledge and skill to ensure the development of a cohesive approach to communications
Foster a collaborative relationship with the County Communications Office and support county-wide communications strategies
Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree in communications, computer science or computer engineering, graphic design, web development/design, journalism or a related field; AND
Experience: Six years of responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: web communications/design, news reporting, public information, public relations, marketing communications or publication development. Experience developing policies and procedures, and developing content for a web based organizational communication program is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree, or extensive experience in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field
Three or more years of social media experience including planning, managing, and scheduling content
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A thorough understanding of social media management and strategy
Knowledge of graphic design, web design and online communications marketing
Experience using various analytics software
Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

The Opportunity:This Work Matters!
This position works collaboratively with all divisions in the Health Department to assist in the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies and related products. This position will rotate as the Public Information Officer in the area of COVID, pandemic response and related areas. The position drives the response structure for providing information, communications, details, etc. in front of events or in response to information requests, etc. The position is part of a creative team of communications and marketing professionals who work collaboratively to meet the internal and external communications needs of the department.
This position will work in the Gladys McCoy Building and routine telework.
