      Senior Compliance Officer – Building Construction and Compliance

      Grade: Clerk 9/10

      Salary : $120,859 - $133,183 p/a plus 10% Superannuation and leave loading

      Duration: Multiple ongoing (permanent) opportunities

      Hours: 35 hour working week with flexible workplace practices.

      Location: Based in Parramatta

      The Opportunity
      This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of experienced and driven building and design practitioners where you can apply your technical expertise and knowledge in a compliance and regulatory environment.

      These roles offer a unique opportunity to be part of a team that conducts audits and inspections of selected development sites to identify serious building defects and to deter non-compliance within the NSW building industry. By carrying out this important regulatory function, the team contributes to improving building standards for the benefit of the people of NSW.

      The Role
      Working in a team of multi-disciplinary building practitioners, you will apply your experience and in-depth knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and other relevant standards to conduct comprehensive proactive and reactive compliance-based audits and inspections of complex building sites, which may include (but not limited to) Class 2, 3 and 9c buildings. The role works closely with the Office of the Building Commissioner.

      Your key responsibilities as a Senior Compliance Officer will include:

      · Reviewing project documentation and conducting site audits and inspections.

      · Drafting reports and other documentation including briefings, technical case studies, presentations and Regulatory Orders.

      · Conducting inspections and communicating with customers in relation to complaints about building defects

      · Making recommendations regarding any regulatory action that may be required to achieve compliance.

      · Collaborating with your colleagues across the team and the Department and assisting in bringing awareness and education to the industry.

      · Effectively using technology, reviewing and analysing data and understanding risk.

      · Engaging with the wider community and relevant stakeholders.

      About you
      To succeed as a Senior Compliance Officer, you will:

      · Have experience and qualifications in a building/construction related discipline such as engineering.

      · Be technically competent, detail focused and keep interest in multiple aspects of BCA.

      · Have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to write and produce quality reports in a timely manner

      · Work effectively as part of a team

      · Hold a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or preparedness to undertake an employee sponsored program.

      · Act with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism.

      Have an ability and willingness to travel across NSW as required.

      Be committed to safety and enjoy working in a dynamic and outcomes focused environment.

      Experience in one, or more, of the following competencies is preferred:

      · Waterproofing diagnosis and design

      · Façade consultancy and design

      · Structural engineering

      · Mechanical services engineering

      · F ire services specialists/Fire safety engineering

      · Forensic engineering

      · Remedial engineering

      Additionally, relevant experience in the following areas would be highly desirable :

      · Consultancy, peer review and technical due diligence

      · Design of key building elements (fire, structure, waterproofing, enclosure, services)

      · BCA, Fire and Life Safety compliance

      · Work in progress inspections

      · Superintendency/Project management

      · Undertaking compliance audits

      To be appointed into a Senior Compliance Officer role, you will be required to successfully clear and maintain:

      Pre-employment checks including a criminal record check, employment reference checks and Australian Working Rights check.

      Satisfactory driving record.

      Medical capacity screening regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role.
