      Senior Computational Chemist - Tumor Targeted Delivery Drug Discovery

      We are currently seeking a highly skilled computational chemist who is passionate about drug discovery to join our Tumor Targeted Delivery (TTD) computational chemistry group. As a computational chemist in this group, you will be a key member of our interdisciplinary drug discovery project teams across a range of new modalities, you will use your expertise in computational chemistry to influence project directions and help accelerate project progression. Reporting to the group leader of computational chemistry within TDD, you will have the chance to work closely with an established group of computational chemists at AstraZeneca to deliver AstraZeneca's drug pipeline.

      Responsibilities:

      • Conduct modern computational chemistry experiments independently and in a timely manner to influence drug discovery project direction.
      • Generate testable hypotheses to drive medicinal chemistry design strategies using state-of-the-art structure-based and ligand-based modeling approaches.
      • Apply latest computational hit identification methods to discover new chemical matters for new drug targets.
      • Develop and refine new computational methods through collaborations with internal and external computational groups.
      • Build strong working relationships with scientists from other disciplines, including structural biology, biophysics, ADME/DMPK and safety sciences as part of the wider drug discovery project teams.
      • Effectively communicate scientific results through internal and external presentations and publications.
      • Supervise PhD students and postdocs through academic collaborations

      Qualifications:

      • A Ph.D. in computational chemistry or a related field
      • Deep knowledge in one or more areas of the computational chemistry discipline, such as molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, structure-based drug design, ligand-based drug design, virtual screening, etc.
      • Proficiency in some molecular modeling software packages and programming languages commonly used in computational chemistry.
      • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record in publications and presentations.
      • Working knowledge of Antibody Drug Conjugates and understanding of drug design basic concepts are highly desirable.
