- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of industries, assisting organisations on how they manage and report on climate risk, greenhouse emissions and broader sustainability topics
- Conduct climate and sustainability-related reporting and assurance procedures to support non-financial disclosures in compliance with relevant ESG reporting standards and frameworks, such as the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards, GHG Protocol, TCFD, TNFD, ISSB, GRI, and SASB
- Contribute and expand our capability to undertake quantitative modelling associated with sustainability strategies, impact assessments and environmental reporting to help clients navigate complex sustainability impacts.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key business decision-makers, both internally and externally
- Coach and manage consultants to support the team and managers to monitor progress and deliver high quality work products
- Identify and communicate trends, key insights, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to our clients, while demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry and marketplace.
- Tertiary qualification, such as engineering, science, technology, finance/economics, accounting, law or the humanities.
- Knowledge of relevant domestic climate change and sustainability policies, legislation, guidance and standards as well as a good understanding of the impacts of climate change
- Knowledge of sustainability disclosure standards, their implications and providing analysis, reporting and/or assurance services related to these.
- An understanding and of how global sustainability and climate change regulations and standards can impact New Zealand
- Strong analytical and technical skills, including practical experience in using spreadsheet software and/or programming (for example: Excel, GIS, python)
- A high degree of personal motivation and a proven track record of success in managing multiple activities and delivering projects within designated timeframes
- Passion for environmental sustainability and motivated to make a positive impact
- A commitment to developing your cultural capability, understanding of the role of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and te ao Māori concepts.
- Previous or current work as a consultant or advisor
- Technical experience with energy and GHG emissions accounting and/or model building
- Experience in greenhouse gas emissions accounting and reporting
- An understanding of the regulatory framework underpinning climate change legislation in New Zealand
- Experience in nature or climate-related impact modelling and risk assessments, transition planning and strategy development and nature or climate-related disclosure experience
- A proven ability to research and make evidence-based recommendations
- Experience in problem solving and developing robust methodologies to support critical analysis
- Experience working in team environments and with diverse stakeholders
- An ability to build trust, rapport and credibility with senior leaders
- Experience in financial and/or non-financial reporting and/or assurance

We have an opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Change and Sustainability Services team. This role could be based either out of the Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch offices.
The EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services team is the biggest sustainability consulting team in Oceania. Our multidisciplinary team comprises over 200 experienced professionals across Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. We engage with both listed companies and public sector agencies to help them drive performance beyond their bottom line.
Our team works across the full spectrum of sustainability and climate change issues, including environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) strategy, non-financial reporting, sustainable finance, supply chain sustainability, responsible sourcing, outcomes measurement, climate risk and decarbonisation, emissions reporting, human rights and modern slavery through advisory and assurance engagements.

We have 2 Senior Consultant positions available . The salary range for this role is expected to be NZD 86,000 – 97,500 dependent on skills and experience. This full-time role is for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week .
