- 25% - Manage the VA Mentor Program by locating and monitoring all military students' GPAs to ensure they are within proper standards of progress. Provide assistance and guidance to those who have fallen below standards of progress. Locate and maintain a list of tutors in all areas of academic need from semester to semester. - (Essential)
- 25% - Design, develop, conduct, and maintain a Purple Star Transitioning program which includes a military-specific orientation. - (Essential)
- 15% - Provide case management for military-affiliated students through assessing areas of need and formulating intervention plans in order to minimize and/or resolve problems. Assist students with their needs including navigating university processes and systems, accessing assistance with military-related issues, and referrals to community resources. - (Essential)
- 15% - Supervise 3-5 Social Work Interns - (Essential)
- 10% - Refer military-affiliated students to educational workshops and other training resources that address areas identified with a deficiency. Provide military-affiliated students with strength- based, client-centered motivational counseling. Ensure clients have a clear understanding of the goals and action steps outlined in their plan and that they receive support in pursuing those goals. - (Essential)
- 5% - Inform and educate faculty and staff about the needs and resources available to the military- affiliated students through the Veterans on Campus training. - (Essential)
- 5% - Assist with and/or participate in MVRC/Enrollment Affairs/University events as needed. Other duties as assigned based on departmental, unit and/or divisional needs. - (Essential)

Position Number: 126760 Position Title (Classification Title): Senior Coordinator 126760 Working Title: Mentor Coordinator/Veterans Case Manager Job Summary: Join the Military Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) team at a “Great College to Work For” on the beautiful UWF campus just minutes from the beach. The Mentor Senior Coordinator will earn 7 hours of annual leave and 4 hours of sick leave on a biweekly basis, equating to 22 days of annual leave plus 13 days of sick leave per year. In addition to paid leave, you will receive 8 paid holidays plus a paid winter holiday break from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. The Mentor Senior Coordinator will also have the opportunity to choose between a variety of retirement plans and select from affordable healthcare insurance plans.
The Mentor Coordinator(MeCo)/Veterans Case Manager will assist all registered military-affiliated (Active Duty, Reservists, Guardsman, Veterans, and their spouses/dependents) students at the University of West Florida. The incumbent will manage the Mentoring Program that assists all military-affiliated students with academic success. The MeCo will oversee and manage the Transition program and orientation for veterans that will support the Purple Star Designation for the university. The MeCo will coordinate prevention, intervention, and support efforts across campus and community systems to assist students facing stressors, crises, life traumas, and other barriers that impede academic success. The Mentor Coordinator/Veterans Case Manager will reduce the barriers to students’ ability to stay in school and achieve in life.Department Military Veterans Resource Center FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization with one year of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization with three years of relevant experience. Position Qualifications: Master's degree in counseling/case management with one year of appropriate experience or Bachelor's degree in counseling/case management and three years of appropriate experience. Ability to work with a diverse population of military-affiliated adult students, including those with physical and mental disabilities, and maintain composure when faced with difficult situations. Preferred Qualifications Ability to: maintain confidentiality and personal boundaries; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and relate to others in a professional and helpful manner; work independently while contributing to team environment; organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail.
