      Job Description :

      The Data Enablement Team is seeking a Senior Data Senior Engineer to drive the development, certification, and scaling of enterprise-ready data products and their associated semantic/metadata layers. This role will empower analytics, BI, modeling, and research teams with trusted, well-documented data while ensuring the data ecosystem is optimized for AI/ML workflows and future agentic architectures.

      You will collaborate with cross-functional teams both within the Analytics, Modeling, & Insights (AMI ) organization as well as outside (e.g. Technology partners) and vendor teams (e.g. Starburst) to design, govern, and accelerate the adoption of high-value data assets. A strong technical foundation in modern data platforms, query optimization, and metadata management is critical, along with a passion for enabling AI-driven analytics.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Certified Data Products & Semantic Layer
        • Design, build, and maintain certified data products for use in BI (e.g. Tableau, ThoughtSpot, etc.), advanced analytics, and research.
        • Develop and manage the semantic/metadata layer to ensure consistency, discoverability, and lineage tracking.
        • Partner with data domain owners to document business logic, definitions, and quality standards.
      • AI-Ready Data Infrastructure
        • Ensure the data ecosystem (e.g. Teradata, Cloudera, S3, Starburst, Databricks ) is structured to support AI/ML workflows and agentic architectures.
        • Collaborate with the MALTS (AMI’s internal data science environment ) Team to optimize data pipelines for model training/inference.
        • Implement metadata standards and governance to enable LLM/agent-friendly data discovery (e.g. tagging, embeddings).
      • Performance & Scalability
        • Leverage query accelerators (e.g. Starburst, Databricks) and storage solutions (e.g. S3 object storage) to optimize performance for analytical workloads.
        • Monitor and troubleshoot data product usage, identifying opportunities for optimization.
      • Stakeholder Engagement
        • Work with Technology partners to align infrastructure with AMI’s data strategy.
        • Train and support analytics teams on certified data products and self-service best practices.

      Required Qualifications :

      • Data Platforms: Teradata, Cloudera, Oracle, S3 (advanced )
      • Query Engines/Accelerators: Starburst, Databricks, SQL (advanced )
      • BI & Analytics Tools: Tableau, ThoughtSpot (or similar )
      • Languages: SQL (required ), Python (preferred)
      • Metadata/Semantic Tools: Collibra, Alation, or custom solutions (bonus)

      Desired Qualifications :

      • Strong collaboration with data engineers, scientists, and business analysts.
      • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
      • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on scalability and reuse.
      • Familiarity with MALTS or similar data science environments.
      • Exposure to AI/ML pipelines or agentic workflow design.
      • Knowledge of data mesh or data product principles.

      Minimum Education Requirement : Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance, Economics, Data Science or equivalent work experience. MBA Preferred

      Pay and benefits information

      Pay range

      $163,100.00 - $267,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

      Discretionary incentive eligible

      This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
