      Ring produces vast amount of data, and Ring’s Data Science and Engineering Org is seeking a data engineer to help us usher in a new generation of data management where data can be a first class citizen in our operations. If you love the challenges that come with big data then this role is for you. We collect billions of events a day, manage petabyte scale data on Redshift and S3, and develop data pipelines using Spark/Scala EMR, SQL based ETL, and Java services.

      Key job responsibilities
      The perfect candidate will have strong big data engineering and architecture skills, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project leadership, ability to deep dive into problems and help solve the problems keeping customer requirements in mind, and a strong vision for how data engineering can proactively create positive impact. You should have strong knowledge and understanding of how to optimize teams, process, and performance. As a leader, you are thoughtful, aspirational, and adept at motivating teams through ambiguous situation to successful outcomes.



      A day in the life
      You will ideate and deliver on needle moving initiatives for our customers - delivering data platform and products and driving those directions our broader org will take. Guide your team, giving the other developers room to grow while still making sure that the right guardrails are in place to help them. The role will manage the development of services that support Ring’s data infrastructure and data assets. You will build innovative products for our customers to make use of our managed data infrastructure platform as a service for data exchange, orchestration, pipelines, storage, cataloguing and access control. - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
      - 5+ years of data engineering experience
      - Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
      - Expert-level skills in writing and optimizing SQL- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
      - Experience operating large data warehouses
      - Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

      Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
