Data Science Manager
Glasgow
As a Barclays Data Science Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of highly skilled and highly motivated Data Scientists who provide support to the Data Analytics function within Global Financial Crime Operations. You will focus on driving the strategy for the team as well as BAU performance, and collaborate with internal technology teams and stakeholders to meet the time critical demands of a busy Data Analytics function.

What will you be doing?
• Being responsible for driving, challenging, and empowering a team of highly motivated and skilled individuals ensuring focus on key business requirements as well as strategic vision
• Empowering and driving the team to create, build and maintain analytical tools through programming to generate insight, recognise patterns and predict behaviour
• Empowering the team to respond to ad-hoc requests and communicate the results of any analysis, trends and MI to a range of audiences whilst effectively managing their workload
• Being responsible for focusing on a strategic vision for the Data Science function within Data Analytics, ensuring the team is in line with wider business strategies
• Being responsible for ensuring a meaningful data forensics process is provided to stakeholders across Data Analytics on key initiatives
• Experimenting and identifying with various analytical methods\techniques best suited to data challenges
• Being responsible for processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Having an active interest in all aspects of technological infrastructure, driving the team to deliver concepts for more efficient processing across multiple technical disciplinesWhat we’re looking for:
• An inspiring leader with prior experience leading others, as either a line or project manager
• A charismatic communicator who inspires followership and collaborates effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders
• Highly creative, with an uncanny ability to take ambiguous briefs and transform them into concrete deliverables
• Expertise in big data technologies (spark/dask) and databases (SQL, NoSQL)
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Prior experience working in banking or financial services
• An understanding and interest in financial crime related topics, with imaginative ideas where Data Science can make a difference
• Substantial experience designing and delivering data science solutions in a complex commercial environment
• Ability to engage and clearly articulate benefits of the analytical solution, including visuals (matplotlib/seaborn plotly/D3/tableau)
