      This is a remote position.

      Superlanet is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) Engineer to join our healthcare client’s IT organization in Texas. This is a direct hire, fully remote opportunity. This senior-level technical expert will architect, deploy, and maintain secure, high-performance database environments across a large, complex healthcare enterprise.

      The Senior DBA Engineer ensures the availability, integrity, and scalability of SQL Server platforms supporting critical clinical, research, and enterprise systems. Reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure & Networking, this role works closely with application developers, data engineers, cybersecurity teams, and analytics professionals. Peer roles include Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Epic Integration Analyst, and Cloud Platform Engineer.

      This position plays a vital role in enabling data-driven decision-making and ensuring compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server environments ensuring high availability and optimal performance.

      • Perform database tuning, backup/recovery, patching, and security administration.

      • Support database integration efforts across multiple applications, including clinical and research systems.

      • Collaborate with developers and data engineers to optimize queries, design schemas, and automate database processes.

      • Implement and monitor HADR (High Availability and Disaster Recovery), clustering, and replication strategies.

      • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

      • Participate in on-call rotations and provide escalation support for critical database issues.

      • Ensure all database solutions meet regulatory and security requirements (HIPAA, HITECH, SOC2).

      Top Skills / Requirements

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

      • 7+ years of database administration experience, including at least 5 years in SQL Server enterprise environments.

      • Demonstrated experience with SQL Server HADR, clustering, and replication technologies.

      • Advanced performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills.

      • Proven ability to design, document, and maintain large-scale database environments in regulated industries.

      • Strong scripting experience (PowerShell, T-SQL, or Python).

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional collaboration experience.

      • Equivalent education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience supporting Epic databases or healthcare clinical applications.

      • Familiarity with Azure SQL, Managed Instances, and hybrid cloud database deployments.

      • Experience with monitoring tools such as Redgate, SentryOne, SQL Monitor, or Splunk.

      • Knowledge of ITIL frameworks for operational support and change management.

      • Microsoft SQL Server certifications (MCSE Data Platform, Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent).
