Job Description

- Generate quotation packages and final detail packages for complex rack systems including selective rack, cantilever, dynamic systems, drive-in rack, and pick modules.
- Commitment to teamwork in increasing Nucor Warehouse Systems Sales and Profits.
- Create system proposal drawings, approval drawings, permit drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings as required from quotation to install.
- An understanding of how to interpret engineering calculations to help design systems, basic math to calculate system weights, and have an expert grasp of graphic standards.
- Collaborate and communicate with outside customers as well as internal customers such as Sales, Engineering, Production, and Project Management, to support successful client projects.
- Develop and refine detailed 2D and 3D designs for warehouse storage systems, including pallet racking, shelving, and mezzanines.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.
- Review project specifications and customer requirements to develop tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure material selection and fabrication align with design specifications.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and product performance.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in warehouse racking and storage solutions.
- Be a subject matter expert with D365
- Other duties as assigned.
- 10+ year’s experience in the Racking / Material Handling industry
- Expert command of AutCAD design software
- Experience with 3D Autodesk design software such as Revit and Inventor
- A solid understanding of the Material Handling Industry.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime and weekends.
- Proven commitment to safety, and the ability to create a culture of safety in their team.
- Exhibits characteristics consistent with Nucor culture.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design, or comparable experience
