      Job summary

      To support and ensure the provision of specialist pharmacy input to trust-wide electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems (EPMA) across UHBW; and contributing towards both operational and strategic development of clinical systems.

      Utilise specialist pharmacy experience and knowledge to contribute to the design of new ways of working, utilising digital medicines systems, and designing new processes to ensure maximum levels of safety and quality.

      To report any pharmacy related risks and issues that could be generated by the transition from the current to the future state, working closely with various project implementation teams and Lead EPMA informatics pharmacist, specialist areas, and Pharmacy and Hospital Operational Management.

      To support the Lead EPMA informatics pharmacist in professional and strategic leadership to the Director of Pharmacy in areas of responsibility.

      To be accountable for clinical governance relating to EPMA and Digital medicines management systems.

      Main duties of the job

      1. To support the implementation of the EPMA products within UHBW designated areas, working collaboratively with clinical and digital teams.

      2. To provide specialist advice and practical input regarding pharmaceutical aspects of a wide range of therapeutic treatments, supporting clinicians, healthcare staff, and managers to promote safe and compliant electronic prescribing and digital medicines practice.

      3. Contribute to clinical governance activities by supporting the analysis of administration patterns of high-risk medicines to identify trends, reduce medication errors, and inform service improvements.

      4. Provide clinical input into identifying, presenting and helping to manage risks associated with digital process changes, with support and oversight from the Lead EPMA pharmacist.

      5. Support system and supplier evaluation, configuration, testing and training related to EPMA, helping ensure the system reflects best practice for clinical pharmacy input into medicines optimisation.

      6. Contribute to the assessment and implementation of new care pathways and system changes, offering recommendations and escalating decisions as appropriate to senior colleagues.

      7. Work with Digital Services and Pharmacy Informatics teams to assist in the planning and delivery of EPMA training, engagement sessions, and ward-based go-live support.

      Essential

      • Masters degree (or equivalent) in Pharmacy.
      • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.
      • Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent in Clinical Pharmacy
      • Evidence of continuing professional development.

      Desirable

      • Additional postgraduate qualifications relating e.g. leadership/ management, research, digital health, education and training
      • Membership of the British Computer Society.
      • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

      Knowledge and Experience

      Essential

      • Experience in supporting change management and/implementing large change projects in the NHS
      • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of Pharmacy to achieve Trust wide developments.
      • Experience of supervising others, including for research and audit projects
      • Experience of practice research or audit
      • Proficient in the analytical and numerical skills to present complex information appropriately
