      Introduction to role:

      AstraZeneca’s Global Engineering and Real Estate team has its main hubs in the U.K., U.S. and Sweden, they also execute projects in China, Ireland and France. By putting next generation assets on the ground, the team is playing a fundamental role in supporting AstraZeneca’s strong pipeline. Combining the use of the newest technologies, skilled program management and a broad range of engineering and construction expertise, the team establishes positive relationships with customers to build facilities which match requirements and exceed expectations.

We are seeking a strategic thinker who can ensure that project teams deliver in accordance with safety, quality and compliance standards, policies and procedures and managing relationships with customers and key stakeholders. You will be accountable for project/program budgets and leading teams which support the delivery of programs.

      Accountabilities:

      As the Senior Director, Capital Project Management, you will set strategic direction for large, complex capital projects or programs.

      We will expect you to be responsible for project delivery, capital management and stakeholder management. Leading either a single global project/program up to $400M or portfolio of global projects up to $800M.

      Through defining standards and metrics to monitor and review performance in areas under your responsibility, you'll have the ability to make appropriate/necessary interventions.

      Acting as the process owner for processes under your remit you will ensure that global processes are locally implemented.

      You will progress activities in a proactive manner, with high sense of urgency and limited supervision.

      You will have the opportunity to coach Project Managers/Associate Project Managers within the wider team.

      Leading by example within the project management function and you will need to demonstrate mature customer engagement and lead by example in process alignment.

      Essential Skills/Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Project Controls or other relevant field

      • Demonstrated ability delivering life-sciences capital projects

      • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or R&D environment

      • Full and detailed knowledge of relevant Safety, Health & Environment legislation

      • Project management, analytical and research skills and expertise

      • Organisational change skills & considerable influencing skills

      • Proven track record of handling costs and scope

      • Global experience including team leadership and capital planning – process development, prioritisation, negotiation, and organisational change

      • Skilled at leading a matrixed team

      • A broad and creative problem solver with strong learning agility
