- Implement Novant Health’s Central Operations strategy to drive efficient, high-quality clinical operations across NHE Affiliate clinics, in partnership with Market Institute leaders to support Market Institute strategies and hiring needs
- Manage the physician network’s budget, including overseeing analyses on financial performance and implementing initiatives to effectively control costs
- Coordinate with the Senior Director of Recruitment to assess current space utilization and report areas for adjustment to accommodate new providers
- Develop schedules that allocate clinic space effectively to support the needs of both current and incoming providers, ensuring a seamless integration process.
- Support contract negotiations with employed physicians and manage the provider onboarding process in partnership with the Senior Director of Provider Recruitment and Operational Advancement
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Provider Recruitment to implement retention strategies and adjust onboarding processes to ensure physician satisfaction and long-term commitment to Novant Health
- Support the partnership and integration with affiliated provider groups into Novant Health’s physician network in line with Novant Health’s strategic growth targets
- Coordinate day-to-day operations workflows within all NHE Affiliate clinics
- Provide turn-key support to practices as the single initial point of contact for issues that cannot be resolved expeditiously within the practice.
- Foster strong relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders, and support communications and collaboration between physicians and administrative leadership
- Coordinate with Novant Health shared services to support procurement and supply chain management operations (e.g., streamlined procurement processes, optimized inventory management systems) in order to maintain sufficient inventory fill-rates across NHE Affiliate clinics
- Monitor access metrics, such as appointment availability, patient wait times, and appointment adherence, and the implementation of interventions to address access barriers, as necessary
- Collaborate with clinic leaders to support provider productivity improvement opportunities
- Support Central Operations to ensure optimal delivery of technology solutions (e.g., online appointment scheduling platforms, virtual waiting rooms) across NHE Affiliate clinics
- Manage targeted interventions to improve patient access to NHE Affiliate clinics (e.g., no-show reduction initiatives)
- Implement trainings, workshops, and development programs for NHE Affiliate clinical staff to maintain excellence in patient care
- Track clinical workflows across NHE Affiliate clinics to identify opportunities to further drive quality of care improvements
- Facilitate external stakeholder partnerships, including payers, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations, to ensure compliance and elevation of all clinical standards and regulations and to advocate for policies and practices that promote high-quality, cost-effective care
- Maintain quality of care metrics in NHE Affiliate clinics across patient populations and identify opportunities for improvement in partnership with clinic leadership and community partners, as necessary (e.g., targeted patient education programs)
- Support staffing standards for NHE Affiliate clinics to optimize clinical effectiveness (e.g., appropriate staffing levels for clinic size) and efficiency, adjusting as needed to meet clinic productivity goals and maintain quality of care standards
- Implement care continuity initiatives (e.g., establish relevant continuity of care protocols) in coordination with access initiatives in order to drive the highest quality of care for patients
- Ensure care management program quality of care delivery, in coordination with NHE Affiliate clinics
- Implement template optimization initiatives to improve scheduling efficiency and reduce referral barriers
- Support primary care providers, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate care coordination, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and integrated care
- Manage space allocation procedures, considering factors such as provider specialties and clinic availability
- Track operational performance based on input from stakeholders, analyzing data, and adjusting parameters as needed to optimize space and time allocation
- Execute strategic plans for MSO services (e.g., Care Connections, Dimensions / Epic) in line with Novant Health’s strategic goals and the needs of affiliated clinics
- Manage day-to-day MSO operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance
- Utilize data analytics tools to analyze operational performance metrics, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights that inform decision-making and drive operational improvement
- Support relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., senior leadership, Market leaders) and relevant external partners (e.g., vendors, payers) to support MSO initiatives
- Ensure contractual compliance of external vendors to ensure the delivery of services that align with the Novant Health’s clinical and operational needs, optimizing patient care delivery and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with vendor relationship management to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support training and education to clinic staff on central MSO processes, policies, and best practices
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, accreditation standards, and contractual requirements
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the physician network
- Implement policies and procedures to safeguard patient data and privacy
- Identify and analyze industry trends relevant to clinical operations (e.g., emerging technologies such as AI-driven workflows) to inform strategic planning and enhance operational efficiency within the Novant Health
Overview
The Senior Director of Practice Operations will play a crucial role in operationalizing Novant Health’s clinic services and physician network strategic plan, facilitating expansion of patient access, and overseeing continuity of care initiatives across Novant Health Enterprise (NHE). Reporting directly to the VP, Network Development and Growth, the Sr. Dir. will be responsible for supporting the strategic development, integration, and management of all NHE Affiliate clinics and the physician network. This role executes physician recruitment, engagement, and retention, ensures high-quality patient care, optimizes operational efficiencies, and aligns the network’s objectives with the Novant Health’s mission and goals. The Sr. Dir will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to drive growth and enhance the overall performance.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
Experience: Proven leadership experience in managing large-scale clinical operations, with a focus on strategic planning. Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial management.
