- As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the success of development of Wisk Aircraft’s Cabin. Specializing in designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining aircraft cabin electrical systems, you ensure the seamless operation of communications, lighting, connectivity and environmental control systems. Your responsibility is to guarantee cabin safety and regulatory compliance, while ensuring the best passenger experience. In the evolving landscape of aviation, you will be indispensable in shaping the future of aircraft interiors, enhancing passenger experience, and upholding the highest standards of reliability and innovation.
- Develop and design electrical systems and components for air transportation cabins, including power distribution, lighting, audio, video and communication systems, and other cabin amenities.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers, cross functional teams and suppliers to define electronic and electrical system/component requirements.
- Analyze and translate requirements into comprehensive system architecture, interfaces and hardware in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and suppliers, ensuring compatibility with avionics and other aircraft systems.
- Define data communication packages adhering to aerospace communication protocols (RS-232/422/485, ARINC429, IEEE 802.3, ARINC664, ARINC825)
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including schematics, diagrams, technical specifications, qualification reports, test plans and results to support the manufacturing and installation of cabin electrical systems.
- Stay informed about industry standards and regulations related to passenger cabin electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant certification authorities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during the development, testing, and operational phases of cabin systems.
- Develop and document interface specifications (signals, data and power) for electronic and electrical systems.
- Review and approve engineering documentation such as test plans, qualification tests and results, design documentation and implementation plans.
- Lead and execute tests to validate hardware and software components, ensuring they meet environmental, operational and functional requirements.
- Participate in ground and flight tests on Wisk's Commercial aircraft when required.
- Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with operational and functional requirements.
- Support hardware issues over the entire product lifecycle, offering innovative solutions to problems.
- Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and research innovative technologies that can be applied to address Wisk's business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in developing and designing electronic and electrical systems (E/E).
- Knowledge of E/E Standards.
- Proven experience in system testing and validation, including laboratory integration testing and participation in ground and flight tests.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in hardware and software.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and their potential applications.
- MS or PhD in Electrical (or related field) engineering degree
- Familiarity and understanding of Aerospace Recommended Practices ARP 4754 and ARP 4761, and have experience with safety analysis such as FHA, SSA, CCA, PRA.
- Familiarity with software and hardware certification standards (DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160)
- You have design knowledge of communication buses and networks (RS-232/422/485, ARINC429, IEEE 802.3, ARINC664, ARINC825), familiarity with related protocols from physical to application layer (Internet protocol suite, integrity and authentication algorithms), and capability to analyze and develop new host-layer protocols.
- Knowledge of industry standards and FAA regulations related to aerospace and automotive systems.
