      JOB SUMMARY

      Seeking a technologist to operate, coordinate and maintain a multi-test chamber reliability test laboratory in support of the S&C Design for Reliability process. You will work with cross-functional teams, and report to the Manager-Reliability and Test Engineering. The position is in our Chicago, IL facility.

      The work associated with the position includes, but is not limited to, the following:

      Conduct reliability, and design verification tests to simulate field conditions and test for potential malfunctions.

      Working knowledge of, and hands-on experience with the operation and maintenance of environmental test chambers used for product Accelerate Life Tests and HASS/HASA tests.

      A working knowledge of, and hands-on experience with the operation and maintenance of “HALT” chambers for the conduct of Highly Accelerated Step-Stress Tests of electronics and power hardware.

      Test for digital logic, analog electronic and electro-mechanical design weaknesses.

      Support Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Senior Engineers to develop robust reliability test plans.

      Schedule, allocate, and establish test chamber priorities.

      Program chambers to optimize performance/reduce test time based on test plan requirements.

      Load chamber with test units and make necessary electrical and mechanical connections.

      Monitor the status and progress of tests to ensure project milestones are completed on time.

      Monitor automation test tools, chamber alarm conditions, and chamber performance (heating/cooling rates, and humidity performance) to ensure system integrity and efficacy.

      Detect, report, and troubleshoot chamber and test unit problems discovered during the test.

      Develop, coordinate, and conduct scheduled planned maintenance activities.

      Work with Facilities team members to program chambers and occasionally troubleshoot.

      Receive and ship parts for reliability tests.

      Track and regularly provide lab operation and maintenance cost data for financial status reports.

      Must be comfortable working in a laboratory environment with low to medium voltages (up to 1kV).

      Work closely with Development Engineering, Test Automation Engineers, and Production and Quality Engineers.

      Engage with industry experts in electronics and mechanical reliability to find solutions related to electronic issues found during reliability life tests.

      Requirements:

      Associate degree, or BS desirable in Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of hands-on environmental test chamber experience in testing electrical and mechanical product hardware.

      Proficiency with Digital, Analog and Power Electronics circuitry and components.

      Proficiency with lab instrumentation (Programmable Power Supplies, O-Scopes, DMMs, Logic Analyzers, Thermocouples, Accelerometers, Data Loggers, etc.).

      Familiarity with the use and application of “HALT” chambers to perform Accelerated Step Stress Tests and Environmental Chambers to perform temperature cycling and temperature humidity tests.

      Proficiency with troubleshooting methods and techniques related to electronic and mechanical malfunctions.

      Prefer candidates who have worked in an R&D environment.

      Must have hands-on testing and/or laboratory experience.

      Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

      Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc., to generate reports.

      Must be self-motivated, well organized, able to work in a team setting, and productive with minimum supervision.
