- Design, develop, and maintain embedded systems for our company's products.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and other technical professionals to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components.
- Develop and maintain documentation of software and hardware designs, including source code, schematics, and user manuals.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with embedded systems, including hardware and software problems.
- Mentor and train junior team members.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Embedded systems engineering
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages
- Embedded systems and microcontrollers, including ARM Cortex-M series
- RTOS and device driver development
- Familiarity with hardware design and PCB layout
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency in Altium Designer

We are seeking a passionate, creative, highly experienced Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our Vehicle Investigation and Cybersecurity Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL/Penn State’s purpose is to develop innovative solutions to challenging national problems in support of the Navy, DoD, and Intel communities engineering and technology needs. If you passionate about creating innovative solutions for embedded systems. As a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining innovative solutions to our embedded systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

This position can be filled at multiple levels, depending on education and experience. Minimum requirements include a Bachelors' degree in an Engineering or Science Discipline plus 14 years' related experience. Additional experience and/or education is required for higher level positions. A Masters' Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$123,200.00 - $219,600.00Salary Structure - additional information on Penn State's job and salary structure.
