Role Description

As a Oracle Engineer, this person will be responsible for delivering new/incremental functionality to technology platforms underpinning the business, both driven through mandated/regulatory CCP activity and internal or client business requirements.

dbClearPlatform is a suite of applications servicing all businesses within the Investment Bank which Clear derivatives products. Depending on the business line, the platform supports functionality across CCP Connectivity, Member & Client Reporting, Client & Trade Eligibility checks, Risk based limits verification, Data aggregation and storage in addition to data provision for downstream functions.

The main application technologies currently include Core Java for application and proprietary ETL components, Oracle for data storage and MQ, SFTP and REST API’s for messaging/feeds using JSON and other notations including FPML.

As part of a globally distributed team the successful candidate will deliver changes in dbClearPlatform as part of the global book of work. The delopement team works closely with product owners, functional and business specialists to continually enhance the applications within the platform as client, the market and regulatory forces adapt and evolve.

Many of the clearing businesses are full STP and subject to major regulatory requirements with regards to timeliness and data accuracy. Therefore the technology that underpins them is critical to their ongoing success hinges on high availability, high performance and accuracy in its software/applications.

Your key responsibilities

Application Development & Product Engineering (100%) :

• Become SME in Clearing owned applications functionality, architecture and workflows.
• Full life-cycle of development tasks, starting from specification and design to successful implementation and level 3 production support:
  • Design and develop new functionality
  • Working with BAs on functional and non-functional requirements, technical analysis and design
  • Coding and testing, reviewing other team member’s changes
  • Document business and functional requirements, design decisions and API
  • Co-working with QA team on test automation of new and existing functionality
  • Contribute to the definition of the future state of the system architecture
  • When product and architecture experience gained, mentor and direct more junior developers

• Global Application Dev & Support Teams (+ for upstream/downstream)

Your skills and experience

• 10+ years of experience as an Oracle Developer in an Investment Banking and/or Retail Finance environment.
• Extensive experience in complex infrastructure and enterprise software platform development.
• Excellent SQL knowledge, writing complex SQL & PL SQLs, Performing tunning
• Handds on DBA acitivityes like, export/import, data migration, knowing all system objects
• Excellent Unix/Linux knowledge and hands-on experience.
• Experience implementing fault-tolerant / load-balancing solutions
• Experience in conceptualization and solution definition
• Good communication, both written and verbal
• Attention to detail, ability to work with deadlines
• Strong problem solving and analysis skills (an Engineering mind-set)
• Proactive, delivery orientated approach
