- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
- Conceive and plans projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
- Lead investigation activity if sufficient experience in investigation of tools and procedures has been demonstrated.
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
- May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers and project support personnel.
- May be assigned Cost Account Management duties.
- May perform as the engineering cost account manager.
- Requires general engineering/science background.
- Understanding and use of analytical, design or process procedures pertinent to rocket systems and component advanced development.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, develop planning and procedures for assembly and test.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; effective presentation and report writing skills.
- Project skills in developing MS Project scheduling and Earned Value Measurement Systems is a plus. May require the use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and/or various computer systems.
- Ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated leadership skills are required.

Aerojet Rocketdyne anticipates a need for a Senior Engineer to join our Product and Component Engineering department in Canoga Park, CA area.
The Project Engineer will plan and perform propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under limited general direction, you will implement design and analysis tasks, special studies, experiments, and hardware/test requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate performance, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform test planning, post-test examination, analyses, and reporting. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Under limited general direction, the Specialist Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, and practices:
65% - Support Engineering teams working on propulsion system development, and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc. Coordinate and drive engineering work; manage technical progress, risk, schedule, and cost as needed.
15% - Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
10% - Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
5% - Support the technical lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs.
5% - Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports to Engineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input and leadership at product team meetings.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in design and project management of mechanical and fluid handling systems and components required. Experience with rocket propulsion systems is highly desired. CAD knowledge/experience is desirable. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required
Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Pay range for this position:
100,000 - 147,333 per yearNote about pay range:
