      Responsible for analysis of short term and long term Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) energy market impacts due to transmission development, lack of transmission development, and dynamic market conditions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

      DUTIES
      • Assist with the development and implementation of DME’s wholesale energy operating strategies; provide information and recommendations on issues impacting DME.
      • Collaborate with energy management internal and external stakeholders to assist in delivering reliable wholesale energy supplies to Denton Municipal Electric (DME) at competitive prices, inclusive of congestion-based energy market modeling.
      • Evaluate, research, and provide recommendations for the development, implementation, and integration of market tools to analyze the ERCOT wholesale energy market consisting of complex programs including, but not limited to, generation dispatch, transmission congestion, generation offers, and load bids.
      • Conduct research, provide technical expertise, and participate in the ERCOT market design and development process.
      • Stay up to date on energy management fundamentals including, but not limited to, market modeling, load forecasting, the Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) market, buying and selling of energy, and ancillary services regarding transmission congestion.
      • Maintain familiarity with ERCOT’s internal decision-making process for congestion management.
      • Perform transmission analysis for ERCOT’s energy market for Day Ahead and Real Time congestion.
      • Compile data and information for internal and external stakeholders; assist with presentations and backup documentation, as needed.

      • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, or related field; and,
      • Five (5) years’ experience in ERCOT market including the wholesale market (Zonal/Nodal), or related field,
      OR
      • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
      REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
      An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The list below represents the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to perform this job successfully:
      • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local Government laws, ordinances, and regulations.
      • Knowledge of generation fuel usage, electric markets, and ERCOT evolving industry and regulatory developments.
      • Knowledge of systems and programs used to forecast, evaluate, and transact business in the wholesale energy markets.
      • Knowledge of technical requirements for electric system operations and planning.
      • Skill in ERCOT planning and/or operating environment utilizing specialized applications for power system modeling and analysis and/or energy management systems.
      • Skill in analyzing and researching, to interpret and understand policies, laws, and regulations, and to provide workable recommendations and solutions that maintain compliance.
      • Skill in complex problem solving; identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
      • Skill at the advanced level, working with applicable Microsoft Office 365 products, and other software systems to complete work.
      • Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
      • Ability to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events to ensure process improvement and compliance.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience.
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
      • Ability to handle records and complex situations of a confidential nature.
      • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and confidentiality.

      CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
      • Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
      • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check and social security number verification.
      SAFETY
      • Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.
      • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
      • Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to leadership.
      WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      • Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): No.
      • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
      • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
      • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
      • Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
      • Environment: Works in an office setting office and environmentally controlled areas; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
      • Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
      • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
      • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
