      Overview

      The Senior Field Technician draws on previous onsite experience to serve as an onsite liaison between Interstates’ designers and our onsite construction team. The Sr. Field Tech owns the creation of models and drawing sets, contributes to the setting of deliverable standards, and leads their implementation for quality and efficiency. We’re seeking motivated individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and collaborate within a supportive and dynamic team environment.

      Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $60,000- $75,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

      Responsibilities

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Produce deliverable sets independently and efficiently following established standards and best practices.
      • Collaborate with the site foreman to assess field needs, translate desired layouts into the 3D model, and delegate detailing tasks to the team.
      • Independently contribute to field installation to contribute to the onsite workforce and advance constructability of future designs.
      • Initiate deliverable creation by analyzing provided information and determining the next steps.
      • Identify information gaps, gather missing details, and evaluate the quality of information to produce accurate and complete drawing sets.
      • Incorporate customer preferences and constructability considerations based on past projects.
      • Mentor other technicians based on skill level and delegating responsibilities.
      • Resolve technical issues by leveraging experience and available resources.
      • Collaborate with project teams, field personnel, and vendors to clarify missing or conflicting data.
      • Work with project leaders to address and resolve significant design challenges.
      • Identify potential areas for standardization and collaborate with the team to update or create new standards.
      • Provide manufacturing and construction support to ensure seamless project execution.

      Secondary Responsibilities:
      • Cross train into additional discipline or lane deliverables.
      • Mentor intern(s) by setting clear goals, assigning tasks, and providing feedback to support their growth.
      • Analyzes industry and code changes to update current standards for compliance.
      • Own 3D scanning and Trimble operation as needed.


      Qualifications

      Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.       Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or an associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) in a relevant field such as Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline from a two-year community or technical college is required, with a bachelor’s degree preferred. Candidates should have 2 or more years of experience in virtual design and construction, technical modeling, or a similar role, ideally within the electrical industry. Equivalent combinations of education and extensive Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) experience will also be considered. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in virtual modeling software, a strong understanding of construction documentation, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support complex design processes. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards and advanced project coordination is preferred. Additionally, the role demands strong computer and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage stress effectively. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others, maintain a basic understanding of internal controls, and uphold a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality. Adherence to the work schedule and attendance policies established by Interstates is also required.

      Travel Requirements: As part of the national construction team, this role involves being on-site at a wide range of locations across the country, with placements typically lasting 8 months or more.

      Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

      Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computer printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to various worksites may also be required, depending on the assignment.
