      Basic Job Functions:

      Nucor Steel Birmingham, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the Senior Financial Analyst position. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the coordination, oversight and execution of Nucor’s accounting, reporting, and internal control related activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, promoting safety in all aspects of the job; working with internal customers as partners in business; analyzing financial results to produce meaningful analysis; contributing to month-end close activities; general accounting responsibilities; and otherwise support the business as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
      • Two years of accounting and/or finance experience

      • Communication Skills – Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
      • Accountability - Displays responsibility with work habits and has the ability to hold others accountable for desired results.
      • Developing and Building Teams - Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members as well as effectively managing and resolving conflict as needed.
      • Judgment/Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
      • Problem Solving - ldentifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
      • Teamwork - Working as part of a coordinated effort with other departments, divisions and supporting management to achieve a common goal. This includes adjusting actions as expectations shift or change.

      Preferences:

      • Two years of experience in an ERP environment
      • Manufacturing or Cost Accounting experience
      • CPA and/or MBA, or pursing one of these
