      Job Description

      The Group Benefits Finance team is composed of skilled and data-driven Finance experts who support our business partners across GB in reaching our strategic objectives.

      The Senior Actuarial Associate, Group Benefits Finance is a new role that aims to provide further insight into our business’ financial results with a particular focus on disability and health. The person in this role will work collaboratively with the broader GB organization, including product, pricing, strategy, underwriting, operations and help develop recommendations for the management team and senior leaders.

      The role would be responsible for the ongoing production of accurate and timely insights reporting, and other metrics to help determine the financial performance of our GB portfolio.


      Responsibilities

      • Responsibility for the preparation, interpretation, analysis and presentation to senior management of profitability metrics;
      • Identify emerging trends on clients, industry, and products and benefits to support management decisions and action;
      • Support for actualizations of Corporate Accounts refund-accounted clients;
      • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Group Benefits Underwriting Consultants to ensure integrity of client financial positions;
      • Act as representative for GB Management Reporting in various projects involving CMR (GB management reporting tool) and Business Intelligence tools; perform testing and ensure proper implementation;
      • Understand the controls, policies, systems and standards in place, identify deficiencies and coordinate with management for timely resolution.
      • Upload /review various accounting entries

      What we are looking for

      • Actuarial designation (ASA) with 3+ years of proven experience in actuarial roles
      • Post-secondary education in Math/Computer Science, Actuarial Science or equivalent
      • Working towards an accounting designation preferred
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new applications quickly
      • Experience with Power BI and data visualization
      • Knowledge of Essbase, Lawson will be an asset
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Proven ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities and deliver a quality result within tight deadlines
      • Demonstrated strong personal effectiveness competencies: negotiating and influencing skills, adaptability to change and continuously showing initiative while working with limited direct supervision
      • Strong team orientation and collaboration

      Salary & Benefits

      The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

      Primary Location

      Toronto, Ontario

      Salary range is expected to be between

      $70,350.00 CAD - $117,250.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
