- Assisting the Finance Manager-General Accounting with all month-end financial reporting tasks. This includes completing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, monthly/quarterly financial reporting including variance analysis and other ad hoc requests.
- Involvement with internal and external audit preparations, including coordination/preparation of audit working papers. This candidate will act as one of the lead contacts with the external auditors. Assistance with the preparation of the audited financial statement note disclosures.
- Accurately complete all journal entries and reconciliations on a timely basis, with responsibility for reconciling selected higher risk accounts.
- Accurately complete the monthly HST filings and annual charity tax return to the CRA on a timely basis while meeting CRA reporting deadlines.
- Assist with cash flow forecasts, including reviewing the reasonability of forecast assumptions.
- Maintain continuity schedules (prepaid expenses, recurring journal, others).
- Regularly review and improve internal controls.
- Review and document financial procedures and processes, provide strategic/business advice, coordinate and deliver appropriate training and professional/technical assistance to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Work with other team members in Finance to ensure financial integrity of the General Ledger reporting structures and the Budget/Forecast computer software.

Senior Financial Analyst

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (18 months) Senior Financial Analyst reporting to the Finance Manager-General Accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of financial accountabilities and financial services in a multi-site environment working with designated client portfolios within CAMH. The Senior Financial Analyst will build effective, collaborative relationships and work strategically with internal client departments, programs and CAMH management to provide financial analysis, reporting and accounting services.
The Senior Financial Analyst responsibilities include:
Other responsibilities include: participate in planning and coordinating the annual operating and capital plan; ensure compliance with appropriate CAMH policies, MIS Guidelines, CICA Handbook and Government Regulations; and participate in other special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned periodically. This position operates under a hybrid model and the office is located at 100 Stokes Street.
Qualifications
You will possess a University degree in accounting or a related field, and the CPA professional designation or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of related working experience is required. Experience working in the non-for-profit sector, specifically a hospital or health care setting, is an asset. Prior experience working in audit at a public accounting firm is desirable. Knowledge of the Health Care sector and the Ministry of Health reporting requirements is preferred. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. Proficiency in Lawson or other ERPs would be advantageous. Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and software applications, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly is a must.
We are looking for demonstrated business experience in financial reporting, financial statements preparation, financial analysis, reconciliations, general accounting processes and fiduciary requirements. Experience working on financial system and/or process improvement projects is preferred.
We require a self-starter who has the ability to work both independently and/or as a team member with minimal supervision. The successful candidate must have excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills. Such analytical skills include a natural appetite to identify and trouble shoot financial variances, unusual transactions while understanding the nature of budgets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external departments are required. The successful candidate must have the ability to work accurately under stressful conditions and meet tight deadlines. Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork. You will demonstrate the ability and interest in working with a diverse team and in an environment that values diversity and equity. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
