      About the role:

      As part of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, this role is accountable for driving business planning and analysis for Retail Advice and Solutions. This role will support the financial management, the transformation of our planning process, and be responsible for analysis and delivering new insights on value creation.

      The Senior Financial Analyst, a key member of the Retail Advice and Solutions (RA&S) Financial Planning Analysis team, will be responsible for supporting the financial planning cycles to achieve strategic and financial objectives.

      Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, this position requires a proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical, technical and prioritization skills. It is also important for this individual to work closely with partners across the RA&S organization, as well as various other teams (e.g., Canadian Finance, Client Experience Office (CXO), Data Analytics, sales support teams)

      What will you do?

      • Developing and maintaining models for RA&S initiatives
      • In depth financial analysis to support the RA&S business achieve financial and strategic objectives
      • Complete analysis and requirement identification for strategic and/or ad hoc initiatives
      • Provide technical support of RA&S Finance teams as required

      What do you need to succeed?

      • 4+ years of experience in an analytics/modelling focused role with a proven ability to effectively communicate recommendations to leadership
      • Strong Technical skills (MS Excel, PowerPoint, SAS, SQL) including experience in building reports and creating/modifying VBA code
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and details
      • Ability to analyze complex issues and provide recommendations
      • Strong teamwork, relationship development, and collaboration skills
      • Ability to run small projects and participate effectively on large projects as a team member
      • Ability to balance competing priorities while driving desired results
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain difficult concepts to audiences of different levels of understanding

      Preferred Skills:

      • Strong Individual Insurance product and Distribution Channel knowledge
      • Actuarial background or experience would be an asset

      The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
