Job Description
- Req#: 84192
- Design, configuration and further development of interactive web applications for renewable energy projects (e.g. specific tools for data analysis in alignment with the project-specific customer requirements)
- Supporting GIS Specialists, Engineering, Construction and Operations on a variety of GIS related requirements
- Training of non-professional GIS staff in the use of the enterprise system and the required standards
- Coordinate the companywide geospatial data management and provide advanced geospatial analytics
- Manage technical GIS Governance, e.g. implement & maintain Metadata / Storage Standards in close alignment with internal stakeholders
- Establish common templates and implement a demand management process
- Coordinate and maintain a strong GIS Community amongst local GIS specialists
- Develop and drive strategic GIS roadmap in alignment with internal stakeholders
- Collate internal best practices and secure their future improvements
- Gather external impulses by screening the GIS market for new and promising developments
- Drive portfolio of Technical Innovation (R&D) initiatives that include geospatial analytics
- License Management and Cost Control of the GIS architecture
- Server administration and user access management
- Security configuration and system monitoring
- Maintenance of the backend infrastructure
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geoinformatics, Geography or other natural science and GIS related sciences (spatial planning, environmental studies) or equivalent education;
- Strong background in ESRI products, including ArcMap 10.x and ArcPro and Portal; Knowledge of other mapping products including AutoCAD, DeLorme XMap, Global Mapper, Google Earth, etc. is a plus
- Several years of experience in using GIS for processing, analysing and visualisation of spatial data in a professional environment incl. frequent use of model builder and/or python ideally in the marine / renewable sectors
- Good understanding of commercial implications of engineering decisions and track record in adding business value through applying own technical capability.
- Strong communication & stakeholder management skills with ability to effectively communicate with Management and negotiate with external stakeholders.
- Excellent teamworking ability and integrative skills proven in complex change management processes
- Social competence, high level of engagement and intercultural mind set
- High standard of ethical behavior to uphold RWE Renewables’ reputation and commitment to core values and code of conduct
- Flexibility to travel domestic and internationally
- Fluent English language skills

Functional area: EngineeringThe Technical Optimization department drives technical optimization and provides engineering expertise to the OPEA renewables business to increase competitiveness and value of Onshore Wind and PV business. The focus is to provide strategic and technology guidance and to drive optimization and innovation of novel technical solutions.
As senior GIS expert you will be responsible for leading and managing Geographic Information Systems projects, utilizing advanced spatial analysis and cartography skills. That includes the design, implementation and maintenance of a GIS databases, providing strategic guidance on spatial data applications for informed decision-making within our organization. You will oversee a small team, coordinate a company-wide community of GIS specialists and collaborate with various departments to ensure effective integration of GIS technology across the enterprise.
